Being an introvert....

I was doing my usual light reading, and I came across this article.
I agree with its content.
Typical to what most people think (that i'm an extrovert), I'll beg to differ and say that i'm more introverted by nature than what it seems.

Well its worth a read, for differentiation, and whatever. Self reference, I call it.
:)

Do You Know What It Means To Be An Introvert?

OCT. 26, 2013

By KATE BARTOLOTTA

As someone who works with people all the time, you’d think I’d be an extrovert. I’m friendly. I’m not shy.

But when I get close to my “people time” limit, it’s time to shut down, be quiet and hole up with a good book.

I love helping people, but there’s a huge reason that I balance that type of work with work where

I get to be quiet and dive in to working with words instead of being bombarded with interaction.

It’s because—although I don’t fall into some of the old stereotypes—I’m an introvert.

I spent years feeling guilty if I wanted to spend time alone instead of doing things with friends.

I learned to make the best of it, and often pushed myself to be social—even when it felt exhausting.

Many people do this, as extroversion tends to be prized in our society, while introversion is seen as

a “second-class personality trait, somewhere between a disappointment and a pathology.”

It is none of those things. It’s the way an estimated two-thirds to one-half of us are wired, and it can be

our greatest asset.

As I mentioned, being introverted isn’t the same thing as being shy (though there’s nothing wrong with

being shy either). Many shy people are also introverted, but one doesn’t really have much to do with

the other

The best explanation I was ever given (and maybe one of the biggest “aha!” moments of my adult life) was that

while extroverts are energized by connecting and spending time with others, introverts need inward-focused,

alone time to recharge.

Being introverted has nothing to do with lack of confidence. Many confident people are introverted,

and gather their strength from the time they spend alone rather than from the input of others.

In some ways, I believe that the ability to enjoy being by yourself says a great deal about your confidence.

It isn’t that introverts don’t like social time—it’s that for us, social time is giving out energy rather than receiving energy.

A lot of us fall somewhere in the middle between the two, and some interactions take more out of people than others.

A few things to consider if someone you care about falls more on the introverted end of the spectrum:

1. Think of each of us as having a cup of energy available.

For introverts, most social interactions take a little out of that cup instead of filling it the way it does for extroverts.

Most of us like it. We’re happy to give and love to see you.

When the cup is empty, though, we need some time to refuel. We aren’t mad.

We don’t stop caring about you. We’ll be so happy to see you and talk to you again when we’ve had some time

to decompress.

2. Silence isn’t a bad thing.

Really. It’s not an insult. It’s the introvert’s way of conserving energy and restoring him or herself.

If we can be quiet with you (and you can be content being quiet with us) it’s a huge compliment and a huge relief.

Other times the quiet really does need to be spent alone. We come back when we’re ready.

It’s worth the wait.

3. Just because someone is friendly, she isn’t necessarily an extrovert;

just because someone is quiet doesn’t mean he’s an introvert.

If you pay attention to people you care about, often you can see what energizes them and

what drains them. If you aren’t sure, ask.

If you notice a friend seems wiped out, ask if spending time together sounds like fun or if

they’d like some down time. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve become almost giddy because

plans were cancelled—even with people I love. When you know someone needs some space in

order to re-energize, be respectful and give it to them. It isn’t rejection.

4. Text. Write letters. Email. We love it.

There are times that you can’t beat a face to face conversation, I’d agree 100%. But for introverts,

sometimes being able to stay connected and stay in touch in a less intense and less draining way

is a huge help.

Being in crowds is tough. Even long conversations can be tough if we’re already “peopled out.”

Having the freedom to respond when we are ready is a great feeling. Sometimes, it’s right away.

If it’s not, don’t be offended. (It’s not you…it’s me. Really!)

5. All of this really comes down to respect.

Each of us has our own set of boundaries, our own way of communicating and our own needs.

When you care about someone, you choose to communicate with him or her in ways that show

you love and respect them. If your cup is filled by lots of interaction with others, go for it!

Be in tune with your own needs, and enjoy the way that time with others energizes you.

If someone you love is an introvert, and needs time to him or herself, tune into and respect that

as well.

We don’t do activities alone because we are sad, or negative or depressed; we do it because that’s

what fills our cup back up.

We’ll be even happier to see you when we come back.

Ways to create a better life

I saw this as I was flipping through wise words and empowerment stuff as usual.

It's something that I've always enforced and grateful for.

Somehow, being busy and drowned with a million things to do, we sometimes forget about pursuing a quality life.
Therefore, as a reminder to myself, never to forget, never to shortchange myself.

Staying put in Singapore for more than a month has its advantages.

For one, I start being my old self, and lived somewhat a routine.
Trying to bring myself back to creating from old pieces or just plain creating.
Well inertia has to pass for this to happen.

It's something that I missed doing, because I was constantly creating on a monthly basis, and creativity on demand is extremely exhausting, compared to creativity on the flow/go.

#metime is good.
Allows me to reflect, grow, refocus and fly again.
The walks that I take alone. I truly missed that until I started again

Oh and to schedule happy trips for starts is going to be my priority.
Work trips have to take a back seat.

And spending more time with friends.
This has greatly been neglected for 2013. All those meet up gatherings that never surfaced has to surface in 2014.

Most importantly, acknowledging my desires, wishes and dreams. These have to surface in the shortest quickest time.

Pitfalls are vital. Bouncing back is even more vital.
Teamed together, it brings one to new heights scaled and new vision through it.

Hurray!

Shinning star

And I can't agree better on this statement.

Which is why when the going gets tough,  it's only because you're meant to shine even brighter.
For stars that does not matter, they eventually fade into nothingness.

Therefore you only stop shinning because you allow yourself to.
As for me, I glitter in the sunlight, and glow at night.

Like a diamond, like a star.
Not forgetting that diamonds are forever!

Little blessings

Little blessings in life involves waking up this afternoon to the doggles dashing into my room when my mommy opens my room door.
I love how Trixie is a little burst of joy to me, and of course I'm super lucky to know that she does everything to her best effort to please me.

I woke up and placed this on her, and she'll stay there until I'm done with the pictures and "okay" her

She's getting quite pro at balancing stuff!
Treats, ropes, anything that is balance-able can be done!
But nothing quite as professional as Scout the dog who can balance just about anything.

I cracked up when I saw these pictures.

Im not the sort who'll waste food, so it's quite unlikely that I'll balance cupcakes or pizza on Trixie. Plus the grease will rub off on her nose.

The googly eyes, wig, foam head and spaghetti hair are my personal favourites!

You can read about him here!

Hello 2014!

This is my first selfie taken for 2014.

Messy hair
Panda eyes
Crumpled clothes
Good morning!

The year/day started pretty well, I'd say, despite how dishevelled I look at the end of it!

For now I just want to sleep.

Bading 2013 goodbye

Finishing up some bits of work (mainly paying salary), and it dawned upon me that on the last day of the year, I should give thanks for all the goodness that came over my way this year.

The opportunities, the friendships, understanding, family love and support, progress, growth profits, happiness, health.
I give thanks for all the goodness that has been bestowed upon me.
Not forgetting the obstacles placed in line throughout the year, that made me stronger and better, wiser and bolder.

Looking forward to 2014 and all that might come forth to shape me into a better Daphne, so that I may fulfill my purpose and destiny in the shortest possible time and maximize coverage of what I can do in this universe.

Thank you and good bye 2013.

xoxo
Daphne

On a side note, I seem to have lost my appetite today, and the unhungry feeling is all too familiar to me.
Reminds me of old times that I've battled alone. It's nice meeting personal old friends.
But seriously the logical answer would be that I ate too much throughout the festive weekend.
Haha.

However if this feeling stays, I might just end up looking super trim again!

Again and again

Again and again
When will it ever stop?
I've finally got my answer after years of questioning.

Tonight, my dear, we close off another chapter of my life and look forward to new adventures and happier times.

After all, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.
I'm thankful that moving on is always easier than looking back.
I'm also glad that there's a part of me that always do my best - which is why moving on is always easier that way. For there is no regrets left to look back for.

I'm thankful that my guts have always proved themselves more useful than anything else in the world.

Especially so, for people who never deserved my time.
It's better late than never.
Closing 2013 and looking forward to 2014 with a big happy bang!
It's already proving to be quite exciting for me as it is!
So much to share, but the time is not right. :D

Confessions of a mask junkie and her Trixie

Oops I did it again.
Crossed over to Johore Bahru for a quick shopping session.
I had the intention to stock up for the coming Chinese New Year, to stock up on Shoes, clothes and other what nots.

Unfortunately, I ended up getting nothing planned, but just tons of food in the belly, and lots of mask.

I'm in love with Mr Naruko's face mask, and the shop carried an entire range of stuff that I have never laid my eyes on before.

So I bought them all!
I bought the loose pieces at a promotional price of $1rm per packet.
Woohoo!

Well, that's 60 pieces in total, not counting the current ones at home.
How am I going to finish using them?
I'll worry about them later.
:D

Trixie, was begging for food as usual, whenever I have food in my hands.
I decides to feed her some milk froth from my cup of steamed milk, and managed to snap a few pictures of her attempting to clean up the froth from my cup.

Priceless moments captured.
:)

For now, I need to sleep off all that travelling and walking that I did for the day.
It was exhausting to wake up extremely early, just to make my way into JB.
The immigration portion exhausted me the mostest.

Goodnight time!

Raspberry pink purple ombré Christmas

My tree's up!
Been procrastinating for over a week.
I would usually time line the home tree to the lights at orchard when time permits.

But November was considerably busy, seeing that I was mostly out of Singapore, I'm proud to say that the tree's up anyway!

I'm still in my pink and purple phase, coupled with glitter and aurora that would NEVER go wrong.
Ornaments checked!
Tinsels checked!
Lights checked!

Here we go!

Without lights

And even the home screen of my phone is set according to the theme.

Obsessed with color scheme much?
Tralalala

Please let it be a happy Christmas.
