Glorious Saturday..

Saturday..
It's been a long time since I last clocked minimally 12 hours of sleep...
I must say that it feels good to just sleep.
and sleep
and sleep!

Waking up at 6 in the evening feeling really contented, and a little guilty for wasting my saturday away; I decided on a short swim before dinner, because I was feeling pudgey from my melaka trip, and also the foot reflexology uncle said I needed to exercise a little more for the sake of my liver.
Ok here we go.. Pudgey selfie before swim.

---
Kinda happy to have completed summer collection's photoshoot for iisa in just one night.
I pushed myself really hard to finish it all, and despite feeling faint after the shoot, and feeling crappily tired the next day..
it's all worth it knowing that i've cleared something major off my to-do list!

Not forgetting the handful of hairstyles that I did up in just a night. This is just one of the crazier ones that I like!
Looking at this, I missed working on Bowtique, but since iisa is a waaaaaay bigger project that Bowtique, I really can't complain.

Ok done airing hairstyle, need to carry on photoshopping the outfits and send them out asap.
xoxo!

post edit:
Sometimes I wonder why I have to itchy backside and show my mom what makes me happy, only for her to tear apart my happiness in 2 seconds flat.

She kept nitpicking on the cropped top that I've chosen to pair up for the chiffon cover and cotton skirt.
Kept explaining to her that i'm not selling the top, and she kept insisting that the Chinese wont buy the cropped top. *Roar***

We fought over the cropped top designs that I had last year when Daddy invited her to join us at the Shenzhen Fair. Just because she heard some auntie at the fair mutter that cropped tops are too revealing and she told me that I have to design stuff that the people there will wear, and not just what I think is ok.

Seriously. I'm in the fashion industry.
A world where Models strut clothes naked without undergarment. Reveal cleavage, nipples and legs without batting an eyelid.
Here I am hearing my mom lecturing me about cropped tops.
She used to wear them. I wear them. My sister wears them, people run around in freaking sports bra.
*rolls eyes*

i'm Not working in a nun factory.
If I style my coordinates like what normal people would wear daily, then I'm not quite sure why magazines and fashion stylist would go over the top with their exotic works and portfolios, when it could just look like a John Little catalog at the end of the day.
Just because the auntie with a huge belly wouldn't wear it, does not mean that the entire world wouldn't.

I really really hate how the smallest comment given by an insignificant fly, would shake and move her world, and therefore she thinks her daughter commits a heinous crime because of what she hears.
Perhaps its from my mom that I learnt to shut out what the world thinks about me.

I'm almost certain that woman didnt give birth to me whenever we broach up subjects relating to how I'll like to live my life or my visions.
#confirm fight or cry.
Just because something looks frivolous, does not mean that effort and hard work wasn't invested in it.
In reality, it does take skill to look frivoulous okay.
:(

For example, I actually took 34687294- shots each outfit..
only to shortlist and create this.

In that case, I guess i'm my daddy's daughter then.
*but to be fair, even if she doesn't agree with me and how I envision my life path to be, she still lets me go through whatever I want, and puts me through design school and all despite hoping that I'll choose something more useful academically.
That's what love is all about. I'll try to like what you like, even if I don't necessarily agree with it.

Engrish engrish and growing into a tree

Alright!
Did I mention that I was done with the pictures?
I was wrong.
I'm now stuck at part 2 editing again.
ZzzzZZz.

Everytime I thought I could take a break and watch my love from the star in my spare time...
Well it turns out to be a scam.
IF time is money.
I really feel stuck.
My time is important. Yet if I traded time, and paid clowns to do up stuff for me, I'll get shit.

I saw the template that my pictures goes to...and I nearly died.
the template has atrocious english.
At this rate im going, I'll never be able to delegate any visual work out to any "professional" in China.
From the way they fix my face and my limbs, to the layout.
T.T
Enough already!
So many Engrish.com moment that I don't even know how to start grumbling!

I took this blurry image off my phone app, and there's no way I can get a clearer version of this due to one reason or another..

It's kinda blur...
Let me blow up the mistakes here...
dum dee dum..

qualificalion will eb your fist choose.
Huh?
When clearly it should be Quality will be your first choice if god even allows this sort of sentence to be on a fashion spread.

Index Notice?
I'm gonna turn a blind eye on that one because the sentence jumbles at the bottom is even more painful.
Like being knitted warm gentle protectionWith casual turtleneck pamper yourselfWith the edges of pavers out a wanton.
Dafaq much?!!?
My blood pressure went sky high when I spotted it.
Nothing makes sense, and the spacings between each words got discounted away.

Ahhh itemS size!

What exactly is that?
ok and the jibberish below is so awesome again.

I dealt with this shit, the last time I edited the catalog.
All the words I wrote out, buggers discounted my spacesbetweenthe
words
                       like this.           Rearranged my spacing
and now again.

Those Chinese should just STOP using english as if it's damn happening and fashionable to be have a print page laced with bad english.
It's super loser.

Luckily for them that I'm in Singapore, and that I discovered this error in the middle of Sunday morning. Otherwise I'll have this very big urge to yell at somebody.

I know it's nobody's fault.
The people do not know the language, and therefore they would not be able to know where to add spaces and additional S in items and all.
But im not even attempting to blog in Chinese.
Why are they attempting to add bad english into commercial stuff?!

ARghhhhhh!!!!

Aside from that crazy rant, I need to share a secret.

Do you know that this entire entire entire collection of pictures that I've loaded up lately (that is linked to the collection)  was taken solely with the iphone 4S?

It's pretty decent for a phone right?
It was a huge gamble that I took.
You must wonder why so budget?

Sometimes, its not all about the budget, but rather the degree of control that you have, that makes the difference.
In my case, I might not be the most professional model. or photographer. or photoshop specialist. or layout specialist. nor editor.
But i'm sick and tired of being controlled like a puppet, just because I'm a foreigner without resources.
With limited time from my trip, and no proper camera, the only thing I had with me in my suitcase, was my phone.
I thought to myself... Let's push the phone camera to new limits.

If nokia lumia could produce a short movie, I do not see why an Iphone could not produce a small collection of fashion show case.

I also had the ease of cutting the photoshoot from a 1 day rushed affair (with at least 3 pairs of eyes staring/assisting me in changing outfits as I strip down to my knickers + 5 pairs of eyes watching me pose for photoshoots),  into 3 (half day shoots).

I had the luxury of changing in my own changing room in the office, at my own speed, and pose comfortably with just my assistant  (Well I did say that I'm quite an introvert right..)
So why not?

I've taken a new approach, and it's a "let's do it my way" sort of game that i'm playing with my assistant and dad lately.
I do not care if people take pictures professionally, or do layouts professionally.
They aren't doing things my way.
I mean, if they made it look super super good and magical, that's fine.
But that's not quite the case, for the exorbitant price that they charge for professional fees.

Saying this, I do feel like a control freak.
I might eventually be a little tired of being in control, but this, is not going to last forever.
When I set my expectations right, things would flow and follow along.

Perhaps you could also say that I've grown up a little more since.
It's a change within that I've not spoken about to any one in particular.

However, I'm tired of being a little flower, that sways along with the wind and gleam in the sunshine.
The one with vibrant colors that catches the eyes, only to be plucked at the whims and fancies of others.
Nope.

It's time that I become a big tree.
The one with the deep roots that can withstand rainstorms and heavy winds.
The one that provides people with shelter from my branches of flourishing leaves.

Goodbye little flower.
and it's really rather apt that I received a book on Empress Dowager Ci'Xi from the mail.
All the way from Sweden.
Thank you Olle!

Yes I want to be a spectacular and remarkable person when I leave this earth.
This is my journey, and it will take some time to grow into a big tree.
Nobody said it was easy, but I'm always lucky to be surrounded by very positive and encouraging people, even when I say nothing at all.
:)
For that I'm thankful that the right people are always sent my way like angels.

Heading into Mid March

I'm very much still alive!
Back and recuperated from my trip, I've been busy recollecting my thoughts for my new project, along with new lessons that I took home from my recent trip.

Editing photos are going to be my biggest challenge for this week!

Perhaps I love myself too much, to want to change any part of me into anything else.

I hated how I was being photoshopped into someone new in the previous shoot, and therefore i'm going OCD mode here and taking things into my own hands.

Come on, Look at the disparity!

This is the original non edited Daphne in the test shot.

and this taken in the studio, highly edited.
Ermygawd.. is that even me?!
It's actually quite insulting to me.
Even Barbie doesn't come in this proportion!

Dislike!

I do not care if I have thunder thighs, muscular calves or a stubborn jaw/chin.
Give me back all my physical flaws!
Rwar!!!

Apparently I cant trust the Chinese Chinese to appreciate of even understand my taste in imperfection.
审美观不同.

I'm not going to fight them, in what's right or wrong
I sure hope that my eyes, shoulders and fingers are going to survive the photoshop ordeal that I'm putting myself through.

Looking forward to the launch
3 more days to go.
Wee!

We're growing!

Dad sent me the link for one of the interviews he did for the recent Shenzhen fashion fair that we took part in.

The 3 day fair was super tiring, I was on my foot so much, that my feet barely belongs to me anymore.
All those long hours of standing in heels that I did all these years for exhibition and model were like foundational.
This is like wow. I need to buy a new pair of heels to appease my feet.
So I did. Bought myself a new pair of leather strappy heels with good padding to make life better for the next 2 days.

On the last day, I changed into my high cut Isabel marant inspired wedge shoes when the fair ended. Who cares if it looks alittle odd with my fancy casual dress? I'm just an off duty designer with a hurting foot.
Hhahaha

But hey! Looking at this interview makes it all worthwhile!

It's heavily laced in Chinese, therefore I shan't include the link here to kill anyone.

Being back in Singapore is good.
I'm back to being model/ talent manager, and it's a good diversion from seeing too much fabrics and cloths for now.
This is what I call creating a good balance between what I love doing most.

I know, looking at this picture, I'm very much my dad's daughter.
Not so much of mommy's girl.
Haha

And some behind the scenes that I took for dad.
Super glad that I got away from being interviewed in Chinese.
Hurray!
