CNY and our KL trip!

Last CNY, BD and I spend our lunar new year nights watching movies .

and this year, we spent it a little differently. :)

We watched Valentines Day on the eve/Valentines day

and the first day of CNY watching Percy Jackson the the lightning thief.

Second day of CNY involved frantic packing of luggage, as he decides to surprise me with a last minute trip away from Singapore! :D

I had to decide between Desaru and Kuala Lumpur.... and I chose KL!

On a whim and fancy, we set off in the late morning drive to KL.

Grumpy's facial muscles weren't warmed up for the camera yet.

It was a smooth journey all the way to Malacca, with clear blue skies and an empty road to match.

We ran out of luck past Malacca, and we were caught in a terrible expressway jam shortly after!

Many Malaysians were rushing back to KL from their respective hometown so as to get back to work on time (that's what I heard from the radio updates and the newspaper the next day.)

Poor thing had to endure the crazy jam, and he decided to skip the expressway, and head for the little roads instead.

We were staying at a pretty urban resort off KLCC! Despite being located just off the main road, there's a quiet tranquility that we experience in the resort.

Im a mega sucker for local food fare, so dinner for both nights - we ate out at KL's version of Newton circus!

Our dinner was Yums!

Sambal Kang Kong, Fried Oyster omelette, Seafood omelette and grilled stingray!

There was also the not so nice Ba kut teh, wanton mee that we had, but food there is delicious anyway!

Lovely! but Potent!

Their oyster omelette was special! They were flat like pancakes!

I had to attach a bigger picture just to show you exactly what I meant!

Very unlike the gooey starchy ones that we have locally!

Next stop before heading home, Malacca!

To load up on chicken rice balls for lunch and those famously delicious pineapple tarts!

We bought 9 boxes in total, and I nearly finished the entire box myself, and I am still loving it!

This is officially my laziest CNY EVER!

Christmas

This christmas is definitely one of my laziest christmas EVER!

I went about setting up the christmas trees just days before the 25th, only to realize that the lights of the trees were no longer working. Urgh.

I settled for an eco-friendly christmas tree that requires no electricity, but merely more christmas baubles to make up for the lack of lights in gold and red theme nonetheless...

It actually turned out decently pretty, but I didnt manage to muster energy to take pictures of the tree (Maybe next year..)

However, to spruce up the festivity, i've dressed pix!e and Scrabbles up in santa's hat, and a golden axe - stolen from a log cake!

The hat was too big for pix!e, and had 2 slots for bunny's ears to fit into...hurhurhur

Arrggh! So cute!

As for Walnut, she was uncooperative, so no pictures for her.

I started buying presents a mere 2 days before christmas, and it was a horrible, horrible mad rush (I'm totally blaming the new job for killing all my enthusiasm and love for the christmas season), but i am still pleased that despite all the last minute purchasing, all the gifts that I've selected were bought with the intended receiver in mind, and not bought on impulse, for the sake of getting a gift!

I was worked to death on the eve of Christmas eve, and only left the office at 5ish in the evening, and rushed back home for a simple family dinner at home in the company of the bro, sis, and mommy + pix!e, Scrabbles and Walnut each had a portioned of our christmas salads less the dressing.

The grumpies were rather obliging with my request for a picture, and Ta dah! here we go...

I received my first ever present/ christmas present from BD, and it comes in a green box! Woo hoo!

Love it!

My mphosis wallet was falling apart, and I wasn't too happy making do with my red Epi LV, and he got me the Kate Spade!

Thank you! (Even though you weren't impressed by their products/brand, and never will......./simply cannot understand your my fascination for it)

Randomies...

There was this random weekend where I declared to BD that I could differentiate the taste of Mineral water, Distilled water, and home tap water, and so just to prove that I could, we drove out to Cold storage to get us a bottle of Evian and Ice Mountain!

Hahaha...

I turned around, and baby dispensed the water into the glasses randomly!



and results: I got them right!

It's not exactly rocket science, but I do know what i'm drinking!

BD's got this random Blueberry cheesecake craving for the longest time, and I was semi bored hanging out at Orchard 313 after work - waiting for him, and so i decided to satisfy his craving by getting him his cheesecake!

So after going back and forth around 313, the only 2 places that sold "cheesecake with blueberry jammie toppings" were Blue mountain cafe, and coffeebean.

I couldn't decide which cake is the better of two, and visual assessment usually doesnt work.. I decided to get both, just so that if one fails the taste test, the other would hold (hopefully).

Our verdict: BD prefers the coffeebean blueberry cheesecake, as it has a lemony aftertaste to the cake, while the brother and I preferred Blue Mountain's - which is the typical velvety cheesecake finish.

Unfreezing!

There has been so many things changing, that I can barely find time to breathe, much less to keep track of these changes in my life!

For starters, I have moved onto my second job since graduation, and baded

CRC/S&A goodbye, along with the cozy Kandahar street, Bugis.

Admittedly, it feels weird not being able to walk past the hustle bustle of Bugis + Bugis Village on an almost daily basis, to be able to meet BD for lunch and/or dinner on a whim and fancy - seeing that his office is just a stone's throw away.

What I do miss most, is the ability to lunch at my favourite soup shop located right in the midst of all that hustle bustle, allowing myself to retreat into my little world of thoughts, while slurping my soup and munching my sandwich away ~ Ah my little lunch haven.

On the other hand, it has been a really long while, since I last pushed and challenged myself to step out of my comfort zone, and I am getting my hands full trying to keep up with the pace of the world!

I am enjoying the new challenges that my new job brings along, the new knowledge that I've gained, hanging out at department stores during and after shopping hours, and all that pretty watches that my eyes keeps feasting on!

Only to reach home every night, exhausted and really quiet. :(

But I'll get used to it eventually.

Next in line, we have my teeth!

I have never been unhappy with my pearlies my entire life, and my teeth rarely troubles me.

However, I've decided that I did not like the slight butterfly tilt that my teeth movement have taken to lately - post wisdom tooth/teeth removal, and have decided to put it to an end!

Rang up the dentist, whined a little and viola!

I dont know about looking like a kid, but I do feel like a dorky teenager with a slight speech impairment.
On one hand, I try to take my time to slow down my speech, because being the ever excited Daphne - there are times where In the midst of my own sentences, I have difficulty understanding myself.

On the other hand, halving the speed of my speech makes me feel retarded and slightly frustrated, as my train of thoughts are functioning way faster than my speakers. There is a disconnect in my system at the moment. :(

Declining chomping speed + using molars instead of my incisors to bite, makes normal burger eating almost impossible for the first 4 days!

My food diary goes something like this:

Before installation, BD insisted on breakfast, so that I wouldn't starve, because we wouldn't know if I would be able to eat. So clever!

Post installation, I was happy as a bee, and chomped down 2 prata and a chicken curry for lunch, followed by a peri peri catch with rice at Fish & Co for dinner, and wondered to myself if it was all normal for me to be eating with such gusto (after all that horror stories that I've heard about losing weight, and not being able to eat etc) , and finally it was during supper that I realized how much pain it was for me, just munching on my bee hoon goreng!

I wasted my plate of beehoon goreng and went home semi hungry.

I refused to eat when I woke up the next day, and emo-ed/sulk in bed, until my ever thoughtful and sweet baby hand delivered porridge to me.

I had nuggets for dinner, and chewed mostly on one side of my mouth.

I also resorted to deconstructing my sandwich/burger during feeding times.

Eating Subway became pretty systematic -

Plan A: Get counter lady to slice 6" bread into quarters, attempt to bite, only to fail miserably.

Plan B: Pinch bread into mouth friendly sizes, stuff the cucumber/tomato/lettuce slices individually, then the ham slices sorted along with the second layer of pinched bread, and skip the cookies.

Well, Plan B works!

Thankfully, I had a long weekend to recover from this ordeal, and I am eating up fine now.

I am also very glad that this would end in less than a year.

Miss Dentist estimated the treatment to last for about 9mths in total.

I promise I shall be diligent with my retainers after! :D

Ps: I keep having recurring thoughts about having white squares on my teeth after my braces are removed. :(

A very late F1 post.

It just occurred to me that I have yet to post up my intended entry of F1 2009!

How could I?

I took shots of my pass while waiting for my drink to arrive.

It's like a ritual to take shots of your/my pass! :D

I was totally trigger happy in the pretty toilet..

They had this F1 driving simulator thing in the club, so BD had a go at it.

Looked pretty fun and easy like Daytona..

but the controls were a little wonky according to him.

We later went out to rent the Kangaroo TV at the village area, and he looked so pleased with his TV.

Haha.

Yes I know that we seemed a little overdressed for the occasion, as you probably had wondered.

We attended a wedding service right before the race, and SCC had some uber strict dress code rules to adhere to, so I wore my new asymmetric dress, and BD had his casual blazer on .

While touring around the village during our TV rental trip, we took a picture with a vintage car labelled as "Mark Webber" because I decided that the car is a classic pretty, that and my newly acquired F1 fan.

I tried to magnify the picture for the sake of the blind, and it seemed a little washed out.

Our dinner menu consisted of a dozen of Oysters to share, and Roast Beef sandwich.

The roast beef was kinda nice, but tough in a beef jerky sort of chewy way.

I chewed and chewed and chewed and chewed until i couldn't chew anymore, then forced myself to gulp the unchewable parts down. Hahaha ;p

(Mommy did always complain that I seem to have a set of lousy teeth, comparable to an old lady...)

I was asked to appreciate the the roar of the engine, and it was obviously deafening.

Hahahaha. My Earplugs could not make their way back into my ears on time!

I never thought I would ever say this, but my ears felt tired from holding up the ear plugs for a prolonged period. Somewhat sore from the expansion of the ear plugs.

There was tents erected along with nice rattan chairs arranged nicely for guest to be seated, but we discovered that being seated on the stone slab, not only provided us with a better view, but it also held onto my food, my bag, my bum and everything!

It was a good seat, and BD lined his jacket onto the slab for me to sit on...so that my dress wouldn't die.

I had a really good time, and totally enjoyed myself lots that sunday.

sleepless

Whoever who said that counting sheep would lull me to sleep, was lying!
I tried, only to end up changing the outlook of my sheep every now and then.

My sheep was mostly cute and cuddly...

with a few straggly looking ones resembling this...

then i got bored of the "mehhs", and came up with my own animal planet of grassland and birdies..

with pretty flowers..

i finally gave up trying to sleep...
and posted these eye feast.

Argh!

It's going to be one long, sleepy thursday for me....
