moving on..

I am never happier to unfreeze at the moment, and I am definitely looking forward to the challenges lined up ahead.
It's been one helluva weekend for me.. as I excitedly watched the dots appear before my eyes again.
I'm all ready to leave status quo behind and move right on.
After all, a girl's just got to do what a girl's got to do.

Hello Kandahar Street!

The Stone and Archer + Chilli Red Family has shifted their humble office over to Kandahar Street, right behind Arab Street!

Arab Street, as everyone knows, is a pretty laid back area...
Working has officially been made cooler by it's new location.
I've got 3 buses to get me to work!
Here's a glimpse of my new office!
I am seated right next to the window and that tall big pretty tree!
This would be the rest of the office/work area!
Took these pictures on the day we shifted in, so everything was practically everywhere.
The bookshelves unfilled, the Macs randomly placed, bags laid all over..ahh you get what I mean.
Noticed the air conditioner lined up on the wall?
There are 4 air conditioner in total, and when all 4 are switched on,the cold air blasting away makes me feels like I am just minutes away from a Winter Wonderland.

There you go, yet another view of my work desk.
Not only am I a narcissist in person, I have to be a narcissist even with my belongings!
Hahahah..Pretty isn't it?
The trees and birds were hand painted lovingly onto the wall!
I Love how the birds perched on the line, and the flying swallows brings about a serene ambience. Very calming indeed.
On Hindsight, the environment became prettier, but work remained the same.
It didn't get any prettier though.
Hahaha.

Arggh! Using mobile phones to popcorn!

I saw a clip where mobile phones are used to popcorn, and now I am very tempted to try it!
Waahhhh!
I've already sorted out the phone logistics in my head after I was done with the clip.

I'll probably need 3-4 phones to surround the corn, and i'll need 3-4 phones to call those phones/ I could arrange for 2 phones to call the other 2, and we'll get 4 phones working!
I'll just need the kind cooperation from everyone at home, to lend me their phones! :D

But I've also been told that it doesnt work. :(
Why, why, why not?
I would think that I'm rather bent on trrrrying it, and IF it doesn't work, there's always the conventional microwave to rely on!

But if it does, then I wonder what my phone's doing to my brain.
eeks!
I wanna popcorn with mobile phones now!!

insignificance.

The feeling of insignificance has been bothering me lots lately.
At the moment, I'm feeling smaller (significance wise) than a leafcutter ant.
At least those ants know their place and are darn sure of their role in this big big world out there, whilst cartering those leaves around the forest to churn mold.

I on the other hand, have not progressed anywhere in particular for a good long time.
As Steve Jobs puts it across "It's all about connecting the dots"... "and to trust that these dots would somehow connect to the future".
I totally agree with Stevie and his dots, but however at this point in my life, I feel as if the dots aren't even around for me to doodle onto.

There are many things that are worth more than I am at the moment, and it's sad to realize that, something as petty as a text message holds more value than I do at the moment.
Ahhh I am such a dispensable being.
I guess it is time to get myself some new perspectives.

of phlegm chowders and pubic hair

Funny how whenever in my conversations, the words "fucking boring, or bloody hell comes into the picture, mommy would wince when she hears it.

Yes, she told me countless times that she doesn't like hearing them, and I've explained to her countless times that I've adopted the word "fuck" as my pseudo punctuation, and it's really all part of my train of thoughts, like how Singaporeans would love to end the sentence with a lah or a leh.
I personally think it's retarded, and a hypocrite to alter the intended words into something that people would find acceptable, just to please the listener/the society.

Take when mommy comes home from the supermarket, and suddenly realized that she's forgotten to buy something that she intended to (milk maybe?), and she would exclaim "Shoot! I forgot the milk".
Well, based on my mom's replacement of swearwords, I have this awesome idea that Shit and bastards should be the happening swear words of her generations.
Hahaha.

Come on, I know you're cussing, and attempting to conceal the shit into the shoot, the basket from the bastard doesn't really make much difference, and I am rather sure back then my grandma wouldn't understand a word either....

On a serious note - Yes, i do know that my mom is trying to set a good example - but she could always replace them into other exciting words of exclaimation what!

"Oh my sweet lord, jesus" would highly amuse me for instance.
since cussing in general is about the utterance of the unspeakables by society's standards...
some suggested ones could go like....

Pubic hair
booger licker
phlegm chowder!

Mother friendly ones could go like....
dancing papayas
egg custards
polka dots..

When all else fails... "twat" sounds suitable - but it also makes me sound as if i've got speech problems.

Urgh! Well. You get the idea! At least something random would be amusing la!

Same goes for people my age,
I have this ex bestie who conceals her love for cussing. Lately, she fancies fashioning herself as a "oh i'm such a sweet-helpless little thing that's too weak to lift a finger, and since I am so pretty, I deserves to be doted on, and treated like a princess" type of girl.
Fucking attitude of hers annoys the shit off me, which probably explained why she got axed off from my list of friends.

Back from digression and to the multi faced actress - with people she tries to impress, and act chichi, as she replaces the intended Fuck, into freak.

The construction of her sentence goes like this... "Freak! did you just cut ur hair short?!"
Darling, I'm sure freak sounds less offensive - especially after you just called the intended darling a freak while commenting on the outlook of her hair.
Dumbass.

I would rather anyone calls it eff-ing than freak.

You either cuss, or dont mutter a fucking cuss word at all. There's no sitting on the fence here.
Take censorship for instance.
Bleeping the cussing off the movie dialogue is equally retarded too.
All that bleeping takes away the flow of the speech, and kills the expression of emotions, and I'll end up with no clue on what is going on.
I am also dead sure that the kids watching would be able to fill in the bleeping blanks despite the bleeps. How ingenious!

*for the worried - I was inspired from my evening conversation with mommy, but no, we weren't even near quarelling.
Between exterminating the effs off my speech repertoire, and the roaches off her kitchen, I must say that she's losing the battle bothways. Hahaha.
I also found this very amusing!
Pubic hair mowing!
So cute! Too bad, not my pubes tho..
hurhurhur.

Post birthday celebration for BD!

I arranged for a little sailing trip on a Keelboat sometime back, to celebrate BD's 25th birthday, after his UK trip. :)

Interesting experience.
I tried my best to capture the glistening reflection in the sea, and this is about as good as my patience could produce.
I might have been a male magpie a few lives ago, seeing that all that glitters and glistens prettily seems to appeal to me! I am not surprised if I was the dumb magpie that drowned for it's love of shiny reflections!

Posting up some random shots of us during the sailing trip, to show off the good weather!
Nights before, I fretted about weather, and cross checked with all the possible weather forecast that I could lay my hands on. All cited high possibilities of a slight shower in the afternoon, averaging an 80% possibility of precipitation.
I took the gamble and went ahead with my plans!

Well back to the trip...The captain brought us sailing about the islands surrounding Singapore, and ventured a little, to the Malaysian waters. I had a great time enjoying the peace and tranquility, bobbing along with the waves, listening to baby explaining the fundamentals of sailing, observing what the captain was up to, and the captain's quite a funny fella!

The wind/breeze ensured that my hair was at a constant mess,
Whipping about, slapping my face and defying all rules of gravity...I soon tied it up, to keep it out of my face!

Kite flying!

Weekend outing for me last saturday, was to bring me out for kite watching at Westcoast park! It was waaaaaay too crowded to do any kite flying, so we merely watched. :)

Sitting in the car, I gazed at the distant sky filled with kites, and I got pretty happy and fidgety, just staring from afar...
There was all sorts of weird kite designs on saturday... It is really quite a pretty sight!
As it was a sea of kites, the ones that caught my attention would be the mega huge ones, like the weird tiger kite, and the happy flying Doraemon!

A huge yellow jelly fish, before it sprawled onto the ground. :)
--
Found a couple of other pictures in my camera.
Was fooling around for ideas for a coming project, and these were my suggestions to my boss.
Props were dug out from my personal stash of everyday items, not forgetting my extensive collection of dummy products laying around at home.
It is moments like this when you realise that I do take my work rather seriously at times! Especially if it's fun! :D
Created 2 colour settings of the product line for ladies.
Nothing spectacular.... but I figured that considering that no pictures related to my job was ever posted up here, so this should hold up fine for introductions!
Showed the pictures to Derrick the next morning, and he gave the green light for the suggested direction of the set up, and I spent the entire work day shopping for props!
Love it! :D
While I was sourcing for a pair of black "manly" shades for the guy's line, I chanced upon a pair of purple aviator shades! It looked so cute next to my EZ link holder, that I couldnt resist taking picture!
I wore it out for my Kite outing!
It's purple! That simply cannot go wrong! :D
Hahaha!
Speaking of purple, here's a picture of my dessert!
Chilled out with Ben sometime last week over at 2am dessert bar, and i ordered the dessert named Purple.
It was a display/mix of purple potato puree brushed across the platter, with lavander marshmallow, scoops of purple/blueberry sorbet, and cassis jelly displayed across the slight puree, then topped with froth bubble and a sprinkle of purple flower petal.
Gorgeous!
As usual, the presentation is absolutely fantastic!
I love the place and ambience. Having probably tried half the dessert menu there already, I really do have to say this... the serving size was probably designed with a little birdie's tummy in mind...(think canaries and budgie sized birdies!)

I cleaned up my dessert plate in a record breaking time of 10 minutes, and i am usually quite a slow eater!
I also think that I am probably not destined to be the type who would enjoy fine dining to its maximum pleasure, solely because its portions would NEVER satisfy my appetite! Hahaha.
*Ben's chocolate H2O was just insanely disgusting (to me)
It was just pure dark chocolate mixed with Evian to create some Dark chocolate souffle brownie consistency - paired up with ginger puree. Urgh!
So bitter and rich in taste. Bleah!

Colour blind discoveries

Some time back, BD showed me a particular website that had horrible colour choice displayed across the site, and I exclaimed: "I swear the web designer must be color blind".

It was a horrible clash of varying shades of blue splashed across the website.
Gosh! It hurt my eye just observing the colours, and I was taking a dig at the web designers for his horrible choice of clashing blues.

--

During lunch time chatters today, I was curious to know if it is possible for web designers to be colour blind, and I decided to ask the colleagues on their thoughts on colour blind web designers (and if it is even remotely possible) - since they're mostly in the trade.... they should know best, right?

Apparently, it is possible to be colour blind, AND still be a web designer, but it is definitely not advisable.

Following that, Jhene then shared with us an interesting trivia - that only men are colour blind. Hmmmm.. is that really so?

Being ever the curious kitty I am,
I did some post lunch search, and what Jhene said was half true.

Colour blind traits occurs predominantly in male, of which 5-8% of men in the world are colourblind, while only 0.5% of women are found to inherit the trait.
Colour deficiencies are always inherited from the mother, and females rarely suffer from colour deficiency.

Other interesting colour impaired facts that I discovered along the way are....
Only less than 1% of the population sees in black and white vision, while the prevalent colour deficiencies usually centers around green and red.

A colour impaired friend once shared with me about viewing colours from his perspective, and to my discovery, he actually views red as brown.

I am most surprised to find out that colour-blindness is apparently a carry over of the survival/hunting trait of a primal hunter, which is probably why colour blind is predominant in men.

Animal camouflauge are designed to mimic the patterns of plants, instead of the colour - the colour impaired hunter is able to spot the hidden prey amongst the plants easily, as the colour of the animal does not blend with the surrounding, even if the patterns do.

Therefore in World War II, colourblind men were sent on special missions, due to their decreased ability to see green, which in turn increased their ability to see through and detect camouflage.

How cool is that?

*Not to worry if you are unable to decipher the mosaic picture on the top of my post. Only people with red-green deficiencies would be able to read the mosaic picture as the number 5.

Majority of the normal, and those with total color blindness would not be able to read the numeral.
I found a few Colour Blind test, and you could give this one a try!
Have fun!

Golliwogs!

When I make reference to how cute Golliwogs look in various random conversations, people would usually respond by giving me a blank face, with absolutely NO clue about what I am rattling about.

For instance, I had this great idea to dress up as a golliwog last halloween, crazy hair, extremely dark fake tan and a red lipsticks, and was really excited to execute the golliwog plan, only to learn that I was better off conversing to myself. Tsk!

Seriously, doesn't everyone grow up with Enid Blyton and her extensive collection of books?
Come on, take a good hard look at the pictures, I am almost certain that Golliwog appeared quite a bit in Noddy's adventures!
Perhaps you were too absorbed with the adventures that Noddy and Big ears were embarking on, that you would fail to notice everything else?
Gosh!
Now take a good hard look at everything else but Noddy and Big ears - you hear me?

Looking at these pictures reminds me of my days in Primary school, especially the map depicting Noddy town! It shows where everyone lives (or so i imagined!)

Signing up as a school Librarian to fulfill my Extra curriculum quota, I spent a good part of my time over at the Enid Blyton corner of the library, to read my time away, until my duty time was over.
I wasn't skiving ! I would painstakingly arrange the Noddy books in accordance to the various collection, and their numbering order.
---
In my attempts to secure pictures for this post, I was disappointed to find out that Golliwogs have been replaced by white elves in recent publications, due to racist accusations arising from dumb sensitive twits.
What exactly has the world evolved into, that even naive little children's books has to be embroiled in racist and sexist accusations?
I am flabbergasted to see that Golliwogs is now a racist term.
How can something so cutesy evolve into an insult?
Baffling indeed.

wardrobe diet!

Like most diets, parting with the goodies in life are distressing, but definitely for the better. My wardrobe is in the midst of regaining it's former shape - to be lean.. not clogged up, so
do drop in and take a look.
As most of you probably know, I probably have enough newly bought clothes to last me for at least 6 months, and I never quite found the chance to wear them all...
So it'll be great to help my wardrobe get back into shape.

Restless distress

Moody
Cranky
Heavy hearted
Crummy

Yeah... It's been cloudy almost everyday.
I guess a dementor must have been shadowing me around.
Coz i feel it is as if like all the happiness/ my soul has been sapped/sucked off me, making me feel as if I will never be happy again, less the drama part about recalling the most horrible part of my life time then dying off with a frozen sad look on my pale deathly face.
Yes, it really does seem like I'm perpetually plagued by a dementor lately.

I thought it through, and it seems to me that I am indeed frustrated with the lack of self actualization, which in turn is affecting my self esteem towards life in general ( If you'll work Maslow's hierarchy structure backwards...you'll sort of get what i'm rambling on about).
It sure helps that everyone is fucking boring at the moment too (Literally, and pun intended).

Sucks to be me now....
But not to worry - It's just a passing cloud, as I've got grand plans lined up ahead.

For starters, here is my list of random simple pleasures lined up.
Firstly it's friday! Yay!
I've also got an unexecuted nailart design sitting in my head for weeks.
My previous attempt(s) looked unsatisfying, and I settled for boring french manicure for this week. Now that I've consulted my nail guru (Audrey), I'm actually rather sure that it WOULD work this time. If It doesnt, i'll bug her to do it for me! Ahhahah!

There's also this saturday's party at a villa somewhere in Sentosa.. that I'm looking forward to...
:D Heeheehee!

Along with the bestie being back in September to bully..

Followed by tickets to catch Formula One (Live!) at the club - Compliments from Baby and his dad :D and looking forward to seeing Da as part of the Singtel Grid girl, so I can scream "That's my sister!", and be real smug about it for that 2 days (and after).
Hahah.
---
Yep it definitely sucks to be me now, because none of it is happening soon enough.
zzZzz.

Miss Bithe

Seeing a sky full of balloons floating away generally cheers me up.
There is something really soothing, and uplifting, to watch balloon(s) climb its way up to the clouds and disappear from your eyes.

Metaphorically speaking, I usually envision negative emotions, burdens and woes, floating away from me, dissipating along with these cheery balloons, making me feel giddily lightheaded and sparkly.

I'm feeling rather blithe at the moment, seeing that I've finally resolved an increasingly irritating issue that has been bugging me for MONTHS!
I hate how negativity usually grows and eats in, like a moldy bread, where all you need is one tiny fleck of mold, and you'll see a the mass of it spreading in the next blink.
Urgh.

Let's not get me started on my phobia with molds.
:)

Of uncertainties and insecurities

Even the most confident woman can be so seemingly insecure ~ Ben said to me with a smirk.
Contradicting, but uncannily appropriate. One of the better brilliant remarks that I've heard from Ben lately.
His quote rang in my head ever so often, since I last saw him a couple of weeks ago.
Yes, even the most confident of them all, is after all still human, dude.

Admittedly, I am a control freak., for I dread the feeling of being uncertain, and it has been a big-ass of a habit to curb and axe off uncertainties as best as I could remember.

Just how insecure I am?
You can be dead sure that I would NEVER run out of essential necessities that I use on a daily basis, simply because I'm a hoarder and it irritates me greatly that I would run out of essentials, for it is simply something that I have TOTAL control over.

Name any essential items that I would consider important, and I'll have plenty of "backups" on hand.

Blusher - Off hand, I think I have 4 unopened powered blushers in the exact same color, 3 liquid blushers sitting in their packages, not forgetting the 1 cream blusher, 1 liquid blusher and the 4 powered ones in their assorted shades that is currently in use.
False lashes - I have a drawer full of them!
Mascara - Wands of them!
Eyeshadow - Dont even get me started on the quantity.
Toilet paper - Just ask anyone who's been to my room's toilet how many rolls do I have stacked up in my room's bathroom.
Cotton pads - Ditto
Bags - *rolll=s eyes*
Shoes - If I like a pair of footwear so much, I'll buy 2 of it.
Wardrobe staples - You do not want to know just how many white racer backs I own.
Water - I NEVER run out of drinking water at home.
I have an insane habit of boiling water whenever I'm left in charge at home, or in the hotel room, when I am traveling. Because I hate drinking hot/warm water.
-
I hate being "stupid", which is why you'll rarely catch me without an opinion or knowledge about anything, for I try to read up on a big variety of anything.
I read the back of everything - from packaging of cereal boxes, to the back of my shampoo, the floor, the escalator, the bus stop posters, and anything readable that cross path with my eyes.

As I am merely human, it is only normal that there would be things that I do not know, therefore when a new subject is placed in my face, I do make a conscious effort to ask people who know, and an additional effort to google if no one has the answers.

Because I hate not being in the "know", it upsets me rather greatly to discover changes in plans involving me, and that I'm not promptly updated, no matter how minute it may be.

I rarely like to make plans in advance because there is bound to be changes and it irks me to know that everything planned usually unfolds very differently, despite going through great lengths to ensure that everything would function like clockwork. Argh.

Call it a screwed up planning method if you like, but so long as the main framework is established (things that needs to be done gets completed on time), the actual choice of approach employed is usually decided when the situation unfolds (obviously being the control freak I am, I would already have thought up few options to tide me through whatever situation my "great imagination" could get me through.)

I can get VERY worked up when ( I think I'm done for the day) plans, springs up to haunt me with unforeseen situations.

Meet Miss Autocrat, Miss insecurity.
Hello!

Great imaginations

More than often, I realize that my imagination usually gets the better of me.
Sometimes I'm darn proud of it, and sometimes I'm not.

Don't we all?

Of paths and dreams

Man without dreams is like a bird without wings
Man without dreams is also a man without hope.

How true these 2 simple lines speak.
Sadly, I dream of dreams that few would believe to be realistic, but I am nothing without my dreams.

Since I was little, I have been nothing but a dreamy kid with countless teachers that cited Daphne as " a quiet and pleasant pupil, but otherwise dreamy" in their various formation of sentence construed in my "Teacher parent meetings", and my report cards.

Who could blame me for wanting to retreat into my little world of dreams?
The perfect world, far away from all that harsh cruel world out there that truly believes time waits for no man, and it is absolutely frivolous to flitter all that precious time, spent purely on dreams.

Funny how roads and paths were routes designed ideally to smoothen one's journey planned by some smarty pants who believed that the road/path is the best possible way that EVERYONE should travel on.
I am often pleased to catch the sight of unsightly desire paths (A term in landscape architecture used to describe a path that isn't designed, but rather is worn casually away by people finding the shortest distance between two points)

Off hand, I remember seeing a distinct path on a plot of empty grass land near the Tampines MRT station. A sign that screams "Keep off from grass" at a building called Southpoint located at Tanjong Pagar, and a tiny little path just right behind my office, that has ideally been replaced with stone slabs to cover the unsightly over trodden patch of grass/path.

These paths simply means to me that I am not alone in my choice of routes and path.
There are like minded people around, I just need time to find them.
It is my dream to walk the less conventional path, and it is dismal however, that those whose opinions that I hold close to my heart, believe that my dreams are merely whimsical shouts of attention.
Disheartening.

Counting down the hours...

I received a postcard while BD was in Paris.
My second surprise since his absence to Europe.

He's probably in the air making his way to London from Madrid, then flying from London back to Singapore to meeeee!
Tee hee hee.  I am rather pleased to know that I am actually "hours" away from seeing him.

I was thinking randomly to myself the "out of sight, out of mind theory" that I have with my bursting wardrobe, while packing my room a night ago which made me wonder, if he's gone for anything longer than 21 days, would I still remember him?
*laughs*

Whatever it is, I'm looking forward to the familiar sight of Mr Foo, and I've been told to expect a darker, skinner version of him (so he tells me, from the scorching hot sun, walking and food)..... while I've been indulging myself with my usual sustenance, sitting in the comforts of the office and home.. becoming elephantine rapidly.

Lalala.

Surprise surprise!

I woke up to my typical sleep-in Saturday, and was greeted to a peculiar sight!
A bouquet of pretty purple and cream coloured roses, was placed prettily next to my Macbook staring at me.
I took in the sight of charming hues, the water droplets perched daintily on the petals, the opulence of pearls sprinkled across the bouquet, as I wondered to myself sleepily, "how in the world did this bouquet end up on my table?!"

It took me a long while to take in the presence of the purple bouquet ( just lots of blatant staring), before attempting to investigate where the flowers came from.

The sender turns out to be..... *drumrolls*.... BD!!!
I beamed from ear to ear when i found out who the sender was.
Hahahhaha :D
It is a surprise indeed! All the way from "Barcelona"!
Turns out that BD arranged (with lots of help) for the bouquet to be sent from Singapore to meeeeee.
The flowers were supposed to make me smile until he gets back from Europe, because I missed him terribly.
This is definitely my happiest Saturday, since he's been gone.

I promised BD that I will take lots of pictures with my surprise, and here we go....
taken in the day, before heading out to SMU to collect conferment invitation passes for Mr Surprise's convocation next weekend. (Da will be graduating too! Yay!)
Taken after my night out with the besties.
Without the camera flash...

I seem to have a miraculous tan, whenever the camera flash is in use. Hmmm..
Funny eh?
Well well, those happy blooms did keep me smiling :)
Thank you, i truly ♥ the surprise.

fish a fish + Happy!

I've lost interest in playing Restaurant City ( rather, nothing much to level up anymore) , and have moved on to a new game that Valda introduced me to. It's called fish a fish!
Like what the name of the game suggest, it's a fishing game that requires you to level up by fishing at different ponds, acquiring different fishes to sell, to earn money and get better equipments and outfits to make one more skillful.
Fishing is currently my new past time, and just take a look at my aquarium!
I changed the color of the tank water to a dark purplish tinge, added corals, seaweeds in its similar color scheme and only threw in fishes that would complement the look of my aquarium. Hahahah. :D

I'm also pretty into Lounge music lately, favouring Hotel Costes' Cafe de Flore from Volume 10. Listening to the song places pretty thoughts into my head, and has some sort of a happy and calming effect on me.

Speaking of happy, the fruits from all my online shopping seems to be arriving in throngs, coupled together with those that I've bought from sale, and those that I have been sewing, I think I might just have enough newly bought clothes to last me for a month?
Laughs.

Yes I'm indeed rather happy.

Haircut!

I woke up to a very sunny morning, and a rather cooperative hair day, therefore the good lighting for peek-tures!
Well that and i wanted to show off the haircut that I've gotten on Monday.
Expensive, but satisfying.
Previously i was looking dreadful, with too much weight from the hair, that's too heavy at the bottom, too poofy at the sides. Very lifeless hair!
That and the random new (not so new anymore) hairband that I bought weeks ago.
