Leading the life of the normal..

Well as usual, whenever Daphne takes an awfully long time to update, it's probably because she lacks the spare time and energy to hang around the computer to gather up her thoughts and to load up pictures.

The past few weeks that i've disappeared has been rather fulfilling, as i progress on with work - my actual full time job (mind you), as a visual merchandiser or project management executive, whichever title the boss would like to bestow me with.
While life as a "showgirl" has taken a backseat for now, as i take it more as a hobby, rather than a source of income to substantiate my incessant shoppings, and lead the life of a spoilt, lazy brat. I know that it is actually rather tough to envision Daphne in a proper real job and all, but is that really that surprising?
Hahaha.

Major career updates and changes aside, I am finally starting to live my weekends like how most humans do, which is to sit around, chill out and enjoy the company of old friends, or to lie in bed and sleep my entire weekend away! Gone were the days where i will actually be bogged down by events related work, and only be able to rest on Mondays and Tuesdays!
As much as i miss my slack and carefree lifestyle as a "showgirl", i do miss being able to spend my weekends hanging around with friends and socialise the way "normal" people do.

Weekend #1
Saturday
4pm: woke up
6pm: Hair trim
8pm: Met Zoe and Regan for dinner at Shokudo Citilink.
10pm: Desserts at Bakerzin, Millenia

11pm: Drinks at Paulaner

12am: Went for a walk
2am: Supper at crystal Jade

Sunday
Bummed around at home the entire day, and soak up home essence. Dined with mommy and the brother, and stocked up on junk food at the supermarket.
Blissful weekend!
*
Headed over to the Singapore International Salsa Festival (SISF) 2008 that was held over at Down town East during the long Deepavali Weekend.
I spent the entire weekend dancing nonstop, and went home each night with aching feet and body! Still i had good fun, and enjoyed myself through and through!
First of first, we have pictures of the stage backdrop, and i was fooling around with my Lomo sparkle lens, creating the cross sparkle effects on the lights!

Pictures of Da in her performance costume! She looks like a crazy deranged dollie in her dollie colored costume, crazy hair, and insane cute fake lashes that has a miniscule pearl sticking out at the ends of every strand of lash, and not forgetting her scary chilli red lipstick!

Pictures with the SIM people - such a measely count of us, because the rest were mostly mobbed with exams! Good news to the RMIT people, SISF 2009 will be held in August, instead of October! Woots!
Left to Right, Adi, Victor, Daphne, and cute Cherri!
With My sweet little fake sister, Cherri!
My crazy real sister, and her favourite *insert cheeseburger* face

Here we go, a saner picture moment with the sister..

Aha! Dancing with Wilson! I think i have really manly looking shoulders by the looks of this random candid shot that was taken by Victor! Haha.

At the end of the festival on Sunday night, i finally remembered to take picture with some of the international performers and instructors like...
the hot chicks from Venezula...
Kaytee from India! (Til now it still baffles me why Kaytee doesn't look Indian)

The rest of the pictures are still stuck in various cameras, and til then, lala!

Sandisk Mobile Event

Yes, finally a change of blogskin!
It's been more than a year since the use of the glamour girl skin!
The words of the skin are supposedly inspired by a song - according to the creater/designer.
But i really like the look and color play more than anything else!
I've finally received most of the pictures for the SanDisk Mobile launch event at Balaclava, Suntec! Here we go, Zoe and I in our skimpy little silver white outfit!

Group picture taken with the Tequila company people who were incharge of the SanDisk deal, as well as to organise the little showcase at Balaclava!
Left to right: Zoe, Wileen, Richard, Lawrence, Diana and Daphne!
And while working halfway, who should show up and walk through the door?
Alex!
Apparently Mr photographer turned techie dealer here suddenly took a career switch! Aha!
Been a long time since i last saw him, so i guess it's always good to catch up!
I've been hearing lots of remarks about how scrawny i've grown to become lately, which i've always dismissed - thinking it's just mere coffee table talk, and pleasantries exchanged.. but apparently not! Looking at this picture taken with Richard and Zoe, it redefines the phrase seeing is believing, and i guess it kinda marks the "peak" of my scrawniness!
I do believe that i'm almost looking 2 dimension - a there, not there syndrome (as friends fondly describes the 2-Dness of a human being) Ah well!

As usual, i digress too much!
Post event - the traditional cam whoring that never fails to take place after work..
It's almost as if we're working just for the sake of taking pictures! :D

After we're changed, we went back into Balaclava to finish up all the drinks that we've ordered!
Just looking at the table full of drinks, is enough to make me shudder!
Luckily it wasnt all for me!

In preparation of my wisdom tooth sugery, i had to fast and not consume any drinks or food after 12am.
Zoe and I had to abandon the conglomeration of drinks and friends at Balaclava to get me some dinner, before it's too late! Thinking about it makes me sound like some kind of a Food Cinderella!Haha
I left Balaclava feeling tipsy... Only to reach Glutton's Bay at the Esplanade Drunk!
I could barely lift my head up!
Resorting to using my hands to prop my head...
My head gets lower as the time edges by...

and next thing i know - i slept face down. Zoe had fun looking at me vegetating

I woke up, played alittle with the broccoli, and promptly fell back asleep on the table after!!

I was too drunk to take pictures or eat after this.
Zoe practically cooked, and fed me food.
We left the place with most of the food bubbling in the happy pot and headed home to sleep.
It was just plain lucky that i managed to stuff myself full with finger food at Balaclava before i became too drunk to eat, or i'd have died or gone weak from hunger making my way to the surgery room. :D

* Because i was too drunk to function, I eventually only remembered to remove my nail paint in the car, while mommy drove me over to the dental center. Hahahah.

F1 pictures!

Now that the entire F1 craze is over, i've finally found time to load up pictures of Da and I and all the fun that we had, while at work!
Saturday
The both of us were working as Fiat girls, where our main job scopes was really to accessorise the car - the Fiat F500, with limited edition F1 body kit and Ferrari drivers endorsed signature, where Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa dropped by the Raffles Hotel to autograph on the dash boards of the car.
6 Girls in total (consisting of Da, Madeleine, Winnie, Anabelle, Valerie and myself) , each chose a car, sit at the driver's seat to smile at Kimi and Felipe when they make their rounds over to sign on the dashboard.

Kimi autographing...he's cute!!!! But not very friendly. :(
I'd think that i'll be cranky too, if i was forced to autograph cars before my race!

The girls at the cocktail reception, where i ate like 239580238 chocolate dessert thingie and canopes and drinks - and promptly had a sore throat after.
Da and I!

We were hanging out/shopping when i caught a whiff of alcohol breath...
for a moment, i thought to myself that it was a tad too early for the Agnes B salesguy who served us to be drinking... it was only much later that i realised that Da was the culprit! Hahaha
I have an alcoholic for a sister -_-"

I'm eyeing at this Agnes B necklace, and i dont know if i should even get it!
It's such a dilema because there are 2 of them are of similar design, only that one comes in a color combination that i like, while the other comes with the design element that i prefer!
and it's just extremely dumb to buy 2 necklaces! Gahh!

Sunday -F1 Party at 7@DXO
Da and I cabbing over to Clark Quay

Our sisterly Tako inspired shot where I look like a seahorse more than a Tako :(
Michelle calls this my cupid bow lips!
Not that it's a glam picture, but i like the way she describes them!
Yay! Cupid bow lips! Sounds soooo cute right?! :D
I'm like super pleased with the term she coined for my lips! Aha!
Yes excessive narcissism again!
We girls reported at Clark Quay terminal, and went on a ferry ride over to DXO!
How exciting! It's like a mini girls excursion!
We had a great time admiring Singapore's touristy sites, and to enjoy the scenery!

When we reached our destination, my job was to eat, drink, party and be merry!
I spent the first 1 hour tagging guest on their right wrist, While Da was the door bitch. Val and Jolene served the flaming vodka shots to the guest as a welcome drink.
The shots are vile smelling! I bet the reason why they chose Absolut Peppermint, was so that the drinks would match the color of my uniform. Urgh!
Half the time, i was secretly worried that the flaming shots would spill and set one of us on fire!
Oh well! Thank god nothing happened!
*
Lookie! The tracks just right behind me!
Da and I - was fooling around with my color accent function!

Look who appeared at our party! Hurhurhur!

Christopher Lee! He still looks good despite his age, and he look way better in person than TV and pictures. The girls spent a long time gushing and swooning over him, and i'm one of those gushy girls as well!
Next we have We have Da in her full outfit..
Daphy in hers..
and while we had our costume fitting the other day, it dawned upon me that the costumes were kinda familiar....ans I told Da that they kind of reminded me alot of our childhood cartoon! The Jetsons!
Very space inspired ma, and nostalgic!
After work, Val, Da and I kinda got lost/distracted while making our way back to the ferry!
On our way there, we decided to cam whore on the tracks!
There we go!

Having fun looking sad behind bars!
We spotted this Ferrari fan who's carrying this huge Ferrari flag, and so we asked really nicely if we could take a picture with his pretty flag.

We look how gleeful with the flags!
Half way with the flag, there was this BMW that stopped, and this very nice guy wind down the windows of his car, got out of the car, and told us to take picture with his car!
Haha, i love how friendly everyone is that night! It feels almost as if I wasn't in Singapore!

It was definitely a fun evening, and despite burning up my entire weekend working, i'd still stick by the word that it was all worth it.
The world's first night race! Hohoho!
Cheers!
