The last and the first.

This was the last pair of dance heels that I customised before I left dancing for good.
<<  >>
It is now the "sole" survivor, that remains amongst the dance shoes, with the rest crumpled into dust.

In fact this one's semi dying as well, but it's holding decently (for now), while I shop for new ones.

Hello to the beginning.
The start of muscle aches and adrenaline rushes from too much dancing.

Before dance practise even starts,
I can hear my bones cracking already.
Hahahahahha.

Whatever happened to kizomba, and Kpop I guess I will shelve them to a proper time.
;)

Wish me luck!

Bye July!

Busy.
That's what the month of July brings about for me.
I like it when i'm mobbed down with activities that I enjoy.
It's like busy in a good way (If you know what i mean)

July has been a busy month. Not all smooth sailing, but overall, has treated me well on hindsight.

Work wise, no special breakthroughs
That aside, the upside would be that I went back dancing a little in late june, but officially danced and said hello to all my old friends from the dance community this week.
All thanks to Mosaic's anniversary parties.

So proud to see Mosaic flourishing in their new venue, I saw for myself how much time my sister invested into making the studio happen - tho i'm not sure if its for the love of dancing, or for the love of Zee.
Ok, both.

It's a nice and nostalgic feeling to be back, moving and twirling around.
I'm surprised that muscle memory really works after my hiatus. LOLOL.
Comeon, I exited in 2009? and danced annually thereafter.
Hohoho.

I woke up the next day, with aching body.
But that didn't stop me from attending my first Kizomba class ever!

It has been a while since I have ventured into unchartered territories, and I guess new dance class works for me.
The challenge of doing something that I am unused to.
It's been a while since I last feel like I move awkward, discovering random muscles that I never knew of their existence, and I actually like this feeling of learning something new.
Not forgetting that aching feeling in the abdominal muscles from all that mini body rolls that I did in class.

Oh and waking up to more aching body.

I spoke about taking up Tango, Kizomba and/or Kpop dance at the start of this year.

Happy to have touch base with 5%.
Therefore, "Pleased" is the word.

This weekend has also been exceptionally filled up.
With le bestie back from Indo over his long weekend, and not forgetting the attempted birthday surprise(not) celebration for MF, and it was a rather enjoyable session.

I also accompanied the mother to watch movies.
The last movie that I caught with her, was Ah Boys to men.
It was to help ease the pain, when her baby goes into camp for National Service.
Oh I'm such a terrible daughter sometimes.

Anyway we caught Transformer, the movie, and while waiting for the show to start, we munched on our sweet and salty mixed popcorns, the mother said between munches that she could not decide if she likes the sweet ones better or the salty ones.
#popcornNoobie I told her, that's the beauty of a mixed popcorn, because it balances out so well, that you love both the salty and the sweet!

She also said that every bite is like a surprise, because you don't quite know what you're going to get until you place the popcorns into the mouth.
Well. Instinctively, I fished out a popcorn, said its flavour and planted them into her mouth and asked her if I was right!

Of course I'm right.
Spent the trailer moments helping her to differentiate between the salty and sweets just by groping the popcorn.
Hahahaha.

and before all the popcorn eating happened, the brother declared that our popcorns NEVER made it to the start of the show.
Indeed. He was correct. It was mostly gone by the time the movie started rolling.

Good weekends like this ought to be blogged into memories.
Thank you.

Rewinding fridays

Some time back, Claud was hunting for Shanghai Rouge theme related stuff for inspiration, and she found a video link.

She happily watched and texted me to inform me that she found a video similar to what she wanted, etc and told me to check out the link.
The happy girl watched the entire video, and only at the end of the entire video when she saw my picture, she realized that I was in cahoots with youtube, called me up to scream at me.

Hahahhaha.
Like seriously, it really wasn't my fault that the first link she clicked on had me in it, but still it was funny to hear her yell.

I also realized that I've never gotten round to posting the performance video in here.
Not sure why the resolution is sooooo bad in the video, but watching it again, I guess it brings back fond memories of the event.
( I'll prolly dig around in the hard drive for my own stash of the video...and see if its any better)

*I found them!
I also realized that my camera's version of the performance is terrible in terms of footage.

The sister was being really realistic that night, and she erm.. only video-ed the important bits.
Hahahahhaha
Sometimes I really love her so much..and sometimes I just want to wring her neck so bad.
But in this instance, I heart her for being so direct with the video.
Hahahahha

I've also been told that my flyaway skirt is very distracting, but Hello! I was wearing dancing shorts underneathe ok?!
Its not my panties that i'm flashing!

Traipsing alittle more in my past entries, and I also got reminded about how unhappy I was, being Bruised Lee.
Physically worned out was a small matter (after a good 4 years, I think its finally safe to spit out the truth right?)

How I hated the internal strive between incompetent seniors who think the world of themselves (not everyone in the team, just specific ones), bureaucratic management that the team practice and the sad fact that even in hobbies, internal politics exist too (gimme a break man!)
Competitiveness is overrated.

I hate it when people have agendas and points to prove.
Blah!

Anyway, Happy Friday!
The postman just came with my shopping!

Ripping my package apart, I realized that my items are all white.
They dont look very exciting, until I get to put them on.
:)

ShangHai Rouge~ The pre and actual event

Arhh, just so to warn you, this is a picture heavy entry!
Finally found time to load up picture to the Shanghai Rouge event!
Pre-event
We took some publicity pictures for the event, and here we go:
Random shot of myself when idling away... using the color accent function of the camera..
heh!
These are the pro pictures taken by Si hui! She's really talented!
Taken in the studio, by shophouse window..

Morning test shot.
Yup you can see the morning grumpy in me...

After studio indoor shoot, we ventured over to Victoria Theatre itself and made use of the authentic grills to facilitate with the shanghai rouge theme!
Add a dash of ciggie, and we have a mafia inspired picture! Yay!
This is actually one of my favourite shots for the day!

With sally!

Nice right?!
Of course the pictures have been treated with Photoshop to enhance that "old school" effect.
Now, let's move on to the actual day of Shanghai Rouge!

Cheong sum aside, my costume for the night was westernised inspired ladies outfit during the Shanghai Tang era.. curled hair, lots of rouge, and the chilli red lipstick! Haha!
I'm amused at how sweet i look, and we all know that i'm far from that in person...
*gush*

My costume!

With Gary!

Posing during performance!
Audrey came to supported me!
With a bouquet of flowers that she hand wrapped for me!
ohhh i love her to bits!
She's a pleasant surprise, because she TOLD ME SHE WOULDN'T be attending the event *pouts*
but she did! Yay! Never knew that she could be THIS sneaky!
Audrey's sneaky accomplice
Adi! He came with chocolates! :D
If it was not for salsa, i would not have gotten myself 2 very good friends in the process.
I'm thankful man!!

Of course not forgetting that i also found my other "sister" cherri...
Who's all dressed up as a Geisha! So cute!!

My favourite doctor!
Edward! He's like my team daddy!
I'll attend team practise and always whine about the pains that i am suffering from muscle strains, or being ill, and he's always there to take a look at me, no matter how stupid my whines can sound at times... (yes, admittedly, i can be quite an attention seeker at times,.)
Hahahah!

Ricky!
He's the first bugger that i've salsa-ed on stage with, i must admit that we've come a long way..
Iyin! So cute!
I'm glad to see here there all dressed up!
This girl seriously gives me a run for my money when it comes to being hyper, and you thought i was bad... hahha! wait til you meet her!
Lalal!

a more glam picture of the both of us!

Of course what's a salsa performance without a very important person, and she's no other than my sister! Yay!

There's like waaaaay lots of pictures that i'll love to post up..but i think it's going to be boring reading about, so i'll start loading the crappy and naughty ones!

Violent daphne! Yay!

Da peeking at my skirt! Naughty!
John "sweeping" me off my feet!

Victor all dressed up as a Japanese soldier!
And i was trying to look like i was swooning!

Then i got bored of my costume, and changed into the Cheong sum..

Dunno what's with Tze yi's expression, but he's supposed to look as if he's damn happy to have 2 girls in his arms! Hahaha

The Lee sisters!

in our usual faces

and a random group shot of the En Motion crews and performancers
and i'm beaming from cheek to cheek in the studio after finally being done with all the packing, cleaning and moving of stuff from Victoria theatre to the studio!

The End!

hitting rock bottom

I think i'm on the verge of hitting rock bottom.
Juggling work and dance practise is no joke.
I feel as if i've got no life of my own anymore.
a good portion belongs to the company, and the remaining belongs to the studio.

What about my own "me" time?
The lack of personal time is demoralising, and looking at myself,
my legs are full of bruises, and i keep accumulating newer and huger bruises!
The picture in red shoes was taken last week in studio
The one below is taken today!
This are merely the external injuries...

let's not forget all the non visible random muscles that i've pulled, that hurt alot!

I guess the theory of "look good, feel good" applies here.
However it's quite the opposite for me - where "look bad, feel shitty" seems to be the case.
Argh! i cannot wait for the performance to be over!

So little time, and yet so much to be done.
I need a break really badly, and this had all better be worth it.

In case you're interested in what i'm suffering for, event details are enclosed in the picture.
I'm sure i'll be alot more enthusiastic when the event is closer!

Meanwhile, goodbye cruel world til the 7th!

Leading the life of the normal..

Well as usual, whenever Daphne takes an awfully long time to update, it's probably because she lacks the spare time and energy to hang around the computer to gather up her thoughts and to load up pictures.

The past few weeks that i've disappeared has been rather fulfilling, as i progress on with work - my actual full time job (mind you), as a visual merchandiser or project management executive, whichever title the boss would like to bestow me with.
While life as a "showgirl" has taken a backseat for now, as i take it more as a hobby, rather than a source of income to substantiate my incessant shoppings, and lead the life of a spoilt, lazy brat. I know that it is actually rather tough to envision Daphne in a proper real job and all, but is that really that surprising?
Hahaha.

Major career updates and changes aside, I am finally starting to live my weekends like how most humans do, which is to sit around, chill out and enjoy the company of old friends, or to lie in bed and sleep my entire weekend away! Gone were the days where i will actually be bogged down by events related work, and only be able to rest on Mondays and Tuesdays!
As much as i miss my slack and carefree lifestyle as a "showgirl", i do miss being able to spend my weekends hanging around with friends and socialise the way "normal" people do.

Weekend #1
Saturday
4pm: woke up
6pm: Hair trim
8pm: Met Zoe and Regan for dinner at Shokudo Citilink.
10pm: Desserts at Bakerzin, Millenia

11pm: Drinks at Paulaner

12am: Went for a walk
2am: Supper at crystal Jade

Sunday
Bummed around at home the entire day, and soak up home essence. Dined with mommy and the brother, and stocked up on junk food at the supermarket.
Blissful weekend!
*
Headed over to the Singapore International Salsa Festival (SISF) 2008 that was held over at Down town East during the long Deepavali Weekend.
I spent the entire weekend dancing nonstop, and went home each night with aching feet and body! Still i had good fun, and enjoyed myself through and through!
First of first, we have pictures of the stage backdrop, and i was fooling around with my Lomo sparkle lens, creating the cross sparkle effects on the lights!

Pictures of Da in her performance costume! She looks like a crazy deranged dollie in her dollie colored costume, crazy hair, and insane cute fake lashes that has a miniscule pearl sticking out at the ends of every strand of lash, and not forgetting her scary chilli red lipstick!

Pictures with the SIM people - such a measely count of us, because the rest were mostly mobbed with exams! Good news to the RMIT people, SISF 2009 will be held in August, instead of October! Woots!
Left to Right, Adi, Victor, Daphne, and cute Cherri!
With My sweet little fake sister, Cherri!
My crazy real sister, and her favourite *insert cheeseburger* face

Here we go, a saner picture moment with the sister..

Aha! Dancing with Wilson! I think i have really manly looking shoulders by the looks of this random candid shot that was taken by Victor! Haha.

At the end of the festival on Sunday night, i finally remembered to take picture with some of the international performers and instructors like...
the hot chicks from Venezula...
Kaytee from India! (Til now it still baffles me why Kaytee doesn't look Indian)

The rest of the pictures are still stuck in various cameras, and til then, lala!
