Pre graduation jitters.

Pre graduating...

#1 Buy myself a camera the night before, and try and pass it off as a grad present to myself. :D

#2 Feel unwell the night before.

#3 Lay awake the entire night tossing around, counting sheeps, playing bubble breaker and chilling to the music in my ipod nano and go mad trying to fall asleep. (i finally succeeded at 7.30am, and let's not mix my insomia for pre grad jitters though..) zzZZz

#4 Woke up at 10.30am to fight a crumpled white shirt!

#5 Fought a lost battle ironing the shirt and decided to steam the crumples away instead...

#6 11.35am white shirt is finally looking good.

#7 sudden bouts of sneezing fits and viola! im having flu!

#8 Sit in front of the com to whine on msn and Facebook about her hatred for formal shirts and
similar attire!

On an interesting observation - (ironing usually gets me thinking alot) Daphy thinks that the white shirt that she persuaded mommy to buy for her at age 15 years old (during her "lian wanna be days" look), is definitely one of the most savvy buys ever, because a decade later, and she's going wearing it to graduate! How apt!

Picture updates to come along after i'm done with my usual face paint and etc.
See ya!

mood: Grumpy

Ironies in life

The irony(s) in life!

Rohana called me up yesterday to inform me that i wouldn't be able to receive my Certificate on my graduation day tomoorow, because of a printed error on my Certificate.

Apparently the error stated that Daphne Lee has graduated her Bachelor in Business Management with Distinctions. Hahahha
Not that i particularly mind about the discrepancy, but oh well... *shrugs*
I guess the administration people take their jobs too seriously.
Hahahahah

Zoe came up with more jokes about my major(s), and because it's tough to explain in words, it shall remain a private joke.
*
Had a philosophical discussion with Adi while playing pool the other night, and i was bitching to him about how superficial most people really are, and the general perception and expectations that people have of me is impressive!

For instance, people do find it HARD to believe that my life is pretty ordinary just like everyone else, and to their disappointment, i do not lead a very crazy, wild or high life.
No, i dont smoke, drink or do drugs - neither do i spend insanely - nor am i dating a million guys at the same time.

Frivolities aside, i actually earn my own spending money, and i haven't been redeeming my allowance for months since my informal news of my graduation.
My weekly routine looks vaguely like this:

Sleep sleep, salsa, work, work, work, salsa.
Rearrange the order alittle here and there, and that pretty much summerises my life.
I hardly find time to shop during retail hours, and for that, i am ever so thankful for the invention of online shopping! :D

Complaints aside, Adi's reply simply was - Big trees simply just catch more wind.
Our friendship thrives alot on the use of codes and analogies , so excuse us..

Fact #1: Big trees catch more wind, small tree catch lesser wind
Fact #2: Big trees that catches more wind doesnt necessarily mean it's a good wind

Take celebrities for example.
The bigger your reputation (tree), the more wind (critisism, expectations, rumours, blahblahblah) you attract.
Take Amy Winehouse for example. There are lots of drunkeds around, why so much attention on her?
It is also none of our business whether Britney wears her undies or shaves her head, isn't that right? So why do they receive so much flaks about their lifestyle?

Big trees that catches big wind also spend more time sieving out between the crappy, bad and good wind - that i agree as well, especially when it comes to dealing with people.
I've met a whole load of crap, crappy and crappier people, and a fair share of people who dote on me as well (thankfully). Quantity simply doesnt replace quality.

For that, is it really so difficult to meet sincere and nice people, or am i just getting more jaded because of the superficial nature industry that i'm caught in?
Tsk tsk..
I reckon the older i am, the better i become as a "siever" of personality, and mom tells me that i shouldn't be too sensitive, and judge people too quickly.
*sigh*

of geekiness and lomography

Was fooling with Crix's nerdy glasses while making our way to zouk! It's fun and Da had a go with the glasses too! Hurhurhur!
It's funny how a few people from the Salsa scene seem to have the idea that Da and i dont seem to be very close as siblings *frowns*
WE are la, just that we probably dont have to smooch and hug alot to show people that we're close, after all, we're both very independent girls who have our own uber busy lives to lead.

Hurhurhur.

Back to the subject on glasses, i think i look better without glasses la (duh!)
*
Lydia and I at FarEast, experimenting with my lomo fisheye!
Hurhurhur! I'm trying to experiment more with the fisheye, and i cannot wait to lay my hands on the sparkle lens!
Using the fisheye lens on my Olympus camera, i took a picture of the wardrobe..
and another random shot of my side table..
I'm not quite thrilled with the effects yet though... ;(
Shall work harder on taking cooler pictures!
and til i find the mood to narrate timbre's adventures (i might not though!), we'll wait around for more pictures to make their way into my computer.

Updates from mid August

Since i've finally found a sleepless night to housekeep my computer, i've found random pictures that i have never gotten around to posting!
Here we go,

My half hearted attempt at Casino school, where i've mastered the art of cutting and proving chips and to fan out a pack of cards!
I've since dropped out after lesson 2, because I figured that juggling work, salsa, casino school, sleep and my leisure lifestyle is taking a toll on me.. so goodbye casino school!
I was supposed to be a Black Jack dealer! So cool, but oh well!
We have a cute shot of her royal highness! She's been throwing quite a bit of tantrums lately, demanding for treats, attention and dont know what else la. Tough to please, and i've taken to ignoring her most of the time.. But gah! She is still a cute furry eye candy anyway!
The cute doggles that has taken residence at the shop unit downstairs my place.
She's soooo fat, and stumpy and cute! Whenever i see her, she's usually sad because her owner left her in the shop when he goes home to sleep. Poor doggles..

Lyndith and I were working at the Singapore Recreation Club on National Day, and i caught this on my camera phone! It was so exciting, because Lyndith was just describing to me the how the planes would create a heart shape smoke thingie, and suddenly it happened right in front of my eyes! I was hopping with joy when i saw it! Hurhurhur!
The management at the SRC were really nice to the both of us, and offered us lots of delicious food ( we decided on "sampling" the laksa, char kuay teow, satay and roti john) ! They even cooked extra food for me to packet home! I brought supper (satay, char kuay teow) home for the momsy and the bro to savour. Superb!
Not forgetting the fireworks - but i'm too lazy to load the fireworks pictures, besides the pictures didnt turn up too well anyway.
Lydia came back to Singapore, and she got me this Juicy Couture slippers in awesome green, and a pair of very lady like floral earrings!
However I am actually more pleased with spending time with her, than anything else.
I do miss my Bestie alot! She is like the Twin that god forgot to give me, and it is just amazing that despite only meeting up once a year, we still have so much things to talk about, and everything felt as if we were still in Design school! Ahhh i miss my days in design school!
Those were probably the best days of my life (if I were to say so la...) Hahahha!
Lastly, we have a picture of my stripey horse, the zebra!
I saw this little fella at the Zouk flea market, and to my horror, it cost $10!
I refused to pay $10 for a stuffed horse, despite liking it very much, and so after battling my way round the flea market, and whining alot to Lydia, Adi and Crix, we have decided to go back to the Zebra store to haggle again!
This time round, Adi managed to negotiate for $8, and being stingy, i insisted that the zebra should cost no more than $6!
After some "squabbling" between Adi and I, the stripey horse became a present from Adi! Yay!
So Horse horse! is mine for keeps!
Yay! My best bitching friend absolutely rocks la! Hurhurhur!

Holland Village mania: Olio's, Baden baden

Girls Night out in July 2008

Venue: Holland Village

Attendees: The usual suspects - Cae, Zoe and Daphne
Agenda:
1) Attempt to prod cae with a fondue skewer
2) Enjoy the sugar rush, and orgasm that chocolate is said to provide.. (Haha)
3) Headed over to Baden baden for more booze, and to encourage Daphne to be crazier than her norm..

4) Add some fist fight to liven the party
5) Attempting to improving our gold digging skills ala camera whoring
Hey! I'm getting better at it, as we progress!
and *poof* the other two transformed into pig noses. Gah!
6) Chicken wing tasting - The Baden baden chicken wings are "to-die-for" so exclaimed the staff. Well I am always happy when there is good food around. One of the better wings i've tasted, but not to die for la! 7) To transform Daphne into a trolley pushing/grocery shopping slave!
*awww* just look at my awesome but dismal expression!
- The End -

Pictorial updates of a mambo and prom night movie

In case you're wondering, I am very much alive and well, and i haven't died from over savouring my Babi guling (since it was my last post in here.. hurhurhur!)
It has been a busy week for me since my last post, and i shall try to update pictorially as usually. *beams*

Finally managed to get hold of the pictures after swapping our thumbdrives on Saturday!
We have a picture of Zoe and i ions ago at Mambo on Wednesday!
Since it has already been soooo long, i can barely remember the exact chain of events, except for the fact that we did alot of walking. :S

Ericia, Myself, and Zoe!
Random picture of them playing the 5, 10 guessin game, of which i refused to participate in, because i wanted to go dancing! Hehehehe..
Group picture!
Post zouk/supper, I came up with the bright idea to fool around the bridge..and here we go..
emo bridge walking shot!

cam whore with bench - i'm never happier to see a bench after an entire night in heels!
with tree..wtf! Hahah
*
Working for the recent Guinness 9 ball event, one of the welfares that the girls were entitled to, was to dine at Harry's after work everyday! Food there is yummy, and i found out that the prices were affordable too! Consider this a freee advertisement to Harrys - because regardless of which branch i'm stationed at, i can count on the staff there to be uber friendly! Everyone, including the bosses, managers really make me feel as if part of them, except for the fact that i'm merely grazing through.. you could call it fantastic service, i guess!

Zoe and I stuffed ourselves silly with dinner from Harry's before heading over to town to meet up with Daniel, Cae and for more food over at the Royal Copenhagen some many nights ago, and while waiting for Cae and Daniel to arrive, a very bored Zoe made me match my facial expressions according to what she calls out, just to kill time!
So here we go..Retarded! She refused to send me the pictures of her doing her random expressions... but trust me, this is only the start..it'll get better! :D
and a picture of me, taking a picture of her. *laughs*
And finally, Daniel and Cae arrived after a long wait (after our crazy cam whoring, my bowl of Lobster Bisque soup, a hot pot of tea later), we have Daphne posing with her dessert together with Daniel's main course!
I had honey date pudding (standard has dropped since..), and Daniel's shooting star open face sandwhich!
I'm always a happy girl when it comes to food! Yay!
We ventured over to Cineleisure after dinner, and we have Cae in the picture with me.
She's my uber branded queen la. She arrived towing 2 huge Louis Vuitton shopping bag. Tsk tsk tsk.. spend money again!
I was trying to watermark the pictures, when i realised that i kinda fancy her LV belt! It's quite a simple and classic design, but i highly doubt that i'll be able to bring myself into the shop to buy that belt. Hurhurhur...We'll see. :D
Fooling around again before we headed to watch the "infamous" movie, Prom Night that i blogged about a few entries ago..
Rwarr!

BFF's back!

Yay! I'm having Babi Guling for dinner tonight! :P~
It's been at least a year since i last ate it!
Adi came back from Indo yesterday, and delivered the highly coveted Babi Guling from the island of Bali, Indonesia over to my place! Not one portion, but 3 portion can? Woots!
He also passed me some Nivea products, as he'll like to stress it's from Beiresdorf, Germany, not P&G! ok loh.

Over dinner, a round of drinks, 2 hours of pool game, and supper, i bitched non-stop about what happened over the past 2 weeks la! Yes i do miss my best friend!

Pool session was pretty good yesterday night, and i could not stop raving on and on about Alex Pagulayan while playing. Most importantly, i've improved! Not tremendously, but i've definitely improved.
It is also quite stressful to play under the eyes of those random observers from the other table.. But nonetheless, i'm happy with my progress!
*
took a nibble of my dinner (mom's heating them up now)
It's yummy!

Distractions

I seem to be going off track in recent weeks over trivial matters.
and i'd say that i have been alittle disappointed with myself for being easily distracted by the external environment.
However, i'm determined to bring myself back on track and take it as a good break, afterall distractions are meant to make u sidetrack from the original intention and to examine from the unusual perspective that you probably wouldnt do on a daily basis.

So i would say that it's been a good holiday, where u learn to tackle things from a whole new perspective. Wow wee! Things do happen for a reason. *smiles*

Being busy with work allows me to buy myself the time to look for a job that i truly want,
and hopefully it'll all be worth it, and that i wont get all comfortable with my current life and just settle for the second best.

As like how someone would like to remind me, i havent gone very far from where i started off a year ago, and that really made me angry.
Yes, i may not have done and accomplished anything with a flourish and a bang to show to all, but to tell me that i haven't moved very far is really mean. It hurt quite abit to hear that from him, because i know i have progressed a long way since i last stepped out from the " pretty snowglobe" world.

It's as if he's telling me that i have been very disillusioned with my personal progress, or that i simply thought too highly of myself (No i'm not that obnoxious yet).

On the contrary, I have never been more disciplined with myself when it comes to routines, and tasks that i dread, and it was especially evident while i was studying for the exams.

I haven't been ridiculously late for important meetings, and i've brought my monstrous temper in check - and it's almost as if i've got no temper to speak of anymore, and like a welcome doormat everyone's stepping all over me, rubbing shit and whatnots onto the mat, before moving on. (that's probably an exaggeration, but i've definitely been a nice kitty even to people who pisses me off big time).
*
Distractions aside, i'm bursting in excitement about possible opportunitieis and developments that i'm afraid to say it aloud for the fear of jinxing. Grrrr

Meet my new haircut! Not much of a cut, mostly just trimming - so that i will stop looking like a shaggy little sheep dog.
