last of my holiday.

This entire week was mostly consumed by work..
but work was not entirely work, as i did enjoy myself, and had fun. I did not really take much pictures, but definitely some to share. Pardon the lack of words in this entry,

Posing in my "picnic" like setting on Saturday to promote the Heineken Keg with Da at Giant Tampines. We were practically giving away free beer! Very amusing!.

Taken during our dinner break, we look kinda shag in the pictures, but cute nevertheless! We had swedish meatball from Ikea for dinner!

After changing out of our uniforms, before embarking on our long journey back to civilisation.
I swear Giant at Tampines is like a mini malaysia. The toilets stink, vaguely
"smelling like a hundred wet dogs" quote Da.

Met up with Zoe on Monday evening for a short shopping spree and a sumptous dinner ( if we ignored the unfresh clams served). While in the toilet after dinner, i decided to put my new phone into good use. Ahah! It involved taking candid shots of Zoe fixing her face. Definitely unglam! For my safety, i decided to crop away most of Zoe being unglam, and she ran away to hide in the stalls! Hahahah Finally, game enough to smile unwillingly into the mirror. Bah!
Such Fun!!

Tuesday was Salsa night at En motion, and i had fun dancing. Being too engrossed in all that dancing, i did not realise that my toe nail was violently splitted! Well someone must really have kicked me real hard on the toe i guess. A quick glance, and i merely believed that my french manicure was ruined! It was only when changing out of my dance shoes when i realised that i have a bloody toe! It's gross, horrible and bloody! It is definitely going to take me months to recover from the nail disfigurement. My poor toe!

Worked the last of Heineken bottle cap redemption promotion on Wednesday, and i am not too sorry that it is over. Not that the company i had was bad, or the work assigned was horrible, but it is really really hard for me to miss touching those smelly, stale beer and rusty bottle caps.

Was fooling around with Quack's aviator, before going to work on Thursday.
Aviator shades in black looks pretty cool! It sure beats the blue pair that i had, Dont you think so? The black pair creates a "manly" look for me. Ho ho ho! I guess by now, most of you would have realise that i have a slight obsession with sunglasses. *grins*

Saturday will be the last of my working in St James for Tiger, and it is also an unfortunate reminder to me that school is starting on Monday. I am indeed sorry that my holiday is nearly over, because working is definitely more enjoyable than attending school.

Hate the idea of living the mundane life of being a student again.. Where's the excitement?

random updates

Random pictures, random entries..
Here we go!

Dressed up for my last salsa class, and also for the Shrek Party that Kenny invited us to. Lailin and i took forever to flag a cab down (cabbing was definitely my "bright" idea) after Salsa classes, and we were extremely tempted to make our way up to Union Square after standing around cabless for over an hour.

Our conscience eventually brought us to Clark Quay, Attica and somehow being at the Shrek party, definitely made me feel old, despite the fact that i was being carded by the bouncer.
Ahahha, well being typical, i have been pushing away the notion of collecting my NRIC at ICA, so i showed the Attica bouncer my police report instead.

Pictures of the Shrek party that i have received so far... Mitch and I clicking away!

Pictures of Da and I on Wednesday. Yay! We've finally gotten the chance to work together at St James!
Well, post work comment, making our way home was amusing!
Mark, who also happened to be driving a Mazda 3, came to pick Da up after work, and while Quacks came to pick me up.

So happened that both Da and I seperately decided to make our way home first, before heading out again....and so if you think about it, 2 mazda, heading towards the same destination, travelling on the same route.
On our way back, Da and i were exchanging bimbotic waving and silly faces, at every other traffic light that we had to stop at! Bimbotic, but definitely fun! Hahaha!
I bet the security guard must have thought we were mad, or dumb!

Someone's received shopping voucher and a card + letter for his good behaviour! It's such a pretty card with a nice blue sheen to it! I tried to capture the sheen, but apparently failed. Anyways! Cheers to the outstanding Quacks! So proud of you, and yay! Shopping vouchers for meeee!! *grinz*

If only life isn't filled with worries, doubts, choices, responsibilites and fear, this picture would definitely be a great way to spend the rest of my life. Yet exactly how does one be sure about the choices one makes? I'm not too sure about it, but i am certainly trying to look at life in more than one perspective. Yes, it may be a waste of time, but the bigger the stakes, the longer you consider and weigh your options. After all, there IS alot to lose. More time is necessary, to escape from realism. Thank you for indulging me in my extravagance? Yes it's a choice that i really want.

SE W850i

Say hello to my new toy, the Sony Ericsson W850i!

Though not the newest phone around in the market, i kinda fancy the sliding design, and what is more important, the phone is in WHITE! Golden white to be exact. Hahaha.
I spent the whole night prodding and playing with my new toy, and it has been functioning pretty much to my standards, except for the minor lagginess one experience, while texting.

I heart my new SE W850i! That's all i can say for now, and the pretty pink flower theme that came along with it. Hohohohoho!
After paying a whoopping SGD495 for my phone, I have also added on Martin Fields for $16, because the people at the store refused to give it to me, as a freegift. *Hmpf!*
Total damage done to my bank : SGD 511

Sounds like a spendthrift to you? Personally, i think the price can be justified by the delicate situation that i am fixed in, where
1) my contract with Starhub is less than a year, so i am left with no choice but to purchase a phone without contract, and also not forgetting that 2) i am without a handset to trade in.

Well in anycase, the SE is still cheaper than what i paid for my Nokia 7610 in the past.
I literally paid a leg for the 7610 with contract still!
To date, i wonder what crossed my little bubble filled head to pay that much money, for a phone, but i would say that my 7610 is still my favourite phone, of its era.

Despite the option that that i can always choose to live with my replacement phone the Nokia 7270, until my contract expires, i guess it is a nice gesture to be able replace my lost toys the Ipod nano, and the N70.

You'll never know how lonely it is, to be travelling about without music to my ears, and neither would you be able to anticipate the queer stares i get, when i hum songs aloud while walking.

May my lost nano and N70 rest in peace, no matter which part of the world they are sold to, irregardless of whichever pair of grubby hands is holding on to them now.
Oh! And may that bastard who snatched my bag dies soon, if he hasn't already died.
Amen. *smirks*

Happy Daddy's Day!

Daddy's back, and it is Father's Day! Whoopee! We have decided to celebrate by having dinner with dad, and Grandpa. I would probably be treating, though it is undecided on our dining location. Mehhh.

Daddy showed me 2 very tiny scrunched up thing, and it is about the size of my palm, and it turned out to be a mini Tee! Well, it's not anything new, except that it cost 2 SGD, and he got them in China. So cute! So Mr Shark the motif of my bedsheet looks like he's wearing a dress, while its a tee for me! Cute colors! Might wear them out for dinner tomorrow, if the weather turns out to be suitable.

Zoe and i were working for Gatsby, to promote their new moving rubber series. Work is definitely boring, especially if you have to stand for prolonged hours at WATSONS - your personal store.

My working experience with the Watsons way of life, has definitely changed my personal perception of their business. Mind you, it is definitely NOT a compliment that i am dishing out, but rather a note of disgust.

Never have i met such stupid management formalisation before, and by stupid, allow me to quote a few scenarios that has sucessfully scarred me for life.

My first day
1) I walked into the staff entrance with Tony (my agent), and the staff rudely shouted, " you think your shop ah, can walk in anytime you want. Register with the manager first!"

My response to that was a silent "woah, chill dude.."

2) We met the manager, and i was horrified to find out that i actually have to declare how much cash i have - by digging out every single cent on my body, and literally showing it to her!
Next, was to write down the amount onto this piece of "log sheet" that dictates what time i sign in, sign out, and break time, and not forgetting the amount of cash i brought into the store.

3) Manager whips out a marker pen, demands that i take out every item that Watsons carrys, and promptly goes to disfigure my cosmetics and sweet boxes. Every item, from mascara, eyeliners, face powder, lip gloss, concealer, tic tacs, and my pretty hello kitty mint box, was marked with a marker. It was lucky that i wailed out in time, to save my pretty hello kitty mint box from permanently being disfigured, the manager is nice enough to mark only the hello kitty sticker.

My gawd, what an eventful morning, that both Zoe and I had to go through.
you would not know how much it shatters my heart to disfigure my belongings in such manner.
I probably did mention in previous entries that i do take rather good care of my belongings, and yes it hurts to "destroy" them in such manner.
It did not help that i was not notified in advance about such procedures. I could at least bring cosmetics that Watsons does not carry, ie Body shop, the face shop, oh you get what i mean.

4) Manager goes on to air her displeasures about the girls who were working a few days before us. But i'll leave that out, as it does not concern me.

5) At the end of the night, i signed out, and had to open up my bag for the night supervisor to rumage through my belongings. Apparently, one of my silky girl eyeshadow was not marked, and it got confiscated for the night. " She asked why it was not marked, and since it wasn't, she's keeping it."

It was horrible! First the humiliation in the morning, and now this in the night!
I worked hard at keeping my rising temper in check, demanding to know what exactly was she going to do with my eyeshadow.

SHE replied tartily that she would have to keep it with her, and pass it to the manager to deal with the next morning. Silently, i was like "WTF!"

I left my "favourite" personal store, with a face that is black as a raven.

Naturally, i complained to the whole world about my griviences, and everyone agreed that i was unfairly treated. Quacks even offered to accompany me to work the next day, to demand for my eyeshadow, should they refuse to return them back to me. Obviously, an 8bucks eyeshadow does command quite abit of commotion, but i was sane enough to reject his offer, and deal with the issue myself.

I did eventually get it back the next day, with no bloodshed involved, but involved lots of forced smile, and polite talking to the manager.
*
The next few days were equally horrible, as some supervisors are truly quite rude, ( i'll just leave to the probability that she's got lousy family upbringing), and that they treated us like dogs. Never in my life, have i been treated with such distaste!

Getting supervisors to sign on our log sheet, was somewhat comparable to chasing people to get your money back. (yes, it's that difficult!)
They either reply rudely to you that they aren't free, prompting you to get someone else to sign for you (when all they do, is to be in a corner tidying the stocks, or standing at the cashier placing items into the plastic bags). This process usually takes at least 15 mins everytime we require a signature.

One actually screamed at Zoe to "GET OUT" once. Wow, don't you just love them?
*
I am not exactly raised like a princess, and neither am i spoilt to death by my folks.
BUT, i am not brought up, to be treated like this - to declare the cash amount that you have, and to show it to a stranger, to be "accused of stealing", to be screamed at rudely like dogs. Why, even my pets get better treatment than what Zoe and I had to go through at Watsons.
It's disgusting!

It's not like i'm poor enough to want to steal an eyeshadow that cost 6bucks during sales, or desperate enough to want to take anything from their store. And even if i do intend to steal, placing the "stolen" item blatantly in my cosmetic bag for the supervisor to check, is definitely one of the dumbest way to do it, and it seriously adds insult to my intelligence.

Whatever it is, this is one job that i will never miss, and one experience that i will never forget.

Being busy with work this entire week, being able to lie in bed, and to cuddle my muffin is definitely a luxury that i missed to bits! So i spent a good half hour camwhoring with my pillow, blankets and muffin! Whooppee! I love sleeping in!

Lastly, a newly acquired black dress! Someone find me a occassion to wear them! It's pretty!
That is about all the random photos that i have to offer for now!

Furnitures!

I am so in love with the visual display of Tangs! Back in the days of design school, and still loving it!

Oh well, Since that i actually do have time now, i posted a few pictures of pretty furnishing bits that i fancy.
i have been spending a fair bit of my spare idling time dreaming up of my cosy dream room.

Ahhh, a room that i can call my own... when can that actually happen?

My yada-rings

I'm not exactly thrilled with life at the moment, and i am beginning to think that my bout of bad and down luck, isn't exactly over yet.

I dont quite know what possessed me to mob myself with so much work, but it is rather reassuring to know that despite being unhappy with what life has presented to me at the moment, at least i've got the moolah to SPEND, to cheer myself up a little, not forgetting the important people in my life, who tries really hard to cheer me up!

So far, i have bought quite abit of stuff post Bali:

1) A spanky new pair of white boots for work, since the old pair is breaking apart.

2) 3 Bras

3) 4 Undies

4) A new pair of Heels to saunter about

5) Quite abit of online shopping for face care and face paint and clothes of course!

Yes, life isn't as bad as what i make it out to be, especially after shopping. It's only a matter of perspectives, and like what i have always tell friends who are feeling down, it is only when things get tough, that you can build up on your inner resilience. So i guess, it is time that i work on my bit of "inner resilience". Especially when Quacks tries hard to cheer me up! (Ah lala, ah lala, you're so cool!)

It's kinda sad that tonight is his last day of bumming around, and he's going back to working working working again. But oh well, it's not like i have much time to bum around either...
At least we managed to enjoy Bali, and spend time together out of Singapore!

We caught the third installment of the Pirates of the Carribean, i would say that the movie isn't as bad as what some of my friends make it out to be. In fact, Quacks and i sort of enjoyed the little funny bits that is instilled in the show (personally i thought the Indian Pirate lord with the Shrilly voice is funny).
-
Reporting for work at St James last Thursday, i was rather amused to spot a TigerLive noticeboard placed right at the entrance of Dragonfly's entrance. From the corner of my eye, i spotted a familiar looking face at the corner of the noticeboard. I did a doubletake, when i realise that the girl was none other than erm.. myself in the Tiger Super cold's uniform! Hahahaha I was amused, and alittle speechless.

Judging by the hairstyle that i spotted in the picture, and the gloves that i had to wear, i reckon that it was taken at Club momo - Supercold's media launch in July. That was the only time i had to put on a glove with the uniform.

I heard that the picture's other twin is somewhere in Tuas - in the office of Asia Pacific Brewery. ( I am unable to ascertain if this little information is true, but based on what i have heard from the other Tiger girls.)
-
Some time ago, Zoe and i went for a job "casting" that was in truth, a gimmick to make girls take part in a racequeen competition, and were made to pose for pictures in racequeen outfits.
Zoe promptly informed just on Thursday night that that our pictures were posted on the website, for publicity, and i felt a little upset. These pictures weren't meant to be posted up without my consent! Now that the event is over, it is actually alittle dumb to kick up a ruckus about it. I consoled myself that, i look randomly decent, not half blinking of digging my nose or something!

So why am i not paid, when my pictures are blatantly used all over for publicity purposes?
I mean, Tiger actually paid me while i was working, and if pictures were taken in the process, there cannot really be much to complain about.

But the racequeen publicity is such a scam! It not only wasted precious time on my part, and the effort to make my way down for the casting, but in the end, it turned out to be a competition, instead of the promised job description! Worst of all, less than 40% of the girls featured on the website actually participated in the competition! that is Deception! *grrr*

well shame on you, to those who would think that i would die from depression! I'm stronger that that! Aha, i was merely trying to act cute in the picture.
These pictures were actually taken on the day i left for Bali!
It might take me sometime before i post another entry, because working is a terribly tiring activity. Whoever who said that the task and responsibilities of a show girl is bimbotic and easy money to earn, ought to rethink about his comments again.

It takes alot more, than just a bimbo, to survive in this business.

The white jacket

After several days of sloth like adventure, i woke up one fine late afternoon, and decided to make myself useful - by unpacking stuff from my Bali trip. Hahaha yes... i am grossing people out i know.

Eventually, making myself useful led to the chore of ironing up my stacking pile of laundry that is threatening to reach the ceiling...
and while ironing, i found my.. White Jacket!

While it is generally a habit for me to ponder about a million and one things, when idling. By saying idling, it is by no means sitting down to stare into empty space.. rather it is how the brain actually floats off and think about anything it wants to, while the hands and eyes are busy. Now that is Idling!

Ironing this particular white jacket, definitely brought back memories back, and got me thinking..
It cost around $79 or $89 when it was out on the retail shelves, and it is probably one of the more expensive clothings that mommy was willing to part money with.

Being relieved that my grades did actually get me to the polytechnic, i figured out that the buying of that white jacket was more symbolic, rather than "functional" to her.
Yes she spoils me i must admit, but it is never within her character to splurge on clothings that are priced sky high because, coming from where the family trade is, we often get clothings at no cost at all- after all, we are in the manufacturing business of the "Fashion" industry, we know how much it really cost, to manufacture a piece of clothing, and how far the prices actually soar when they hit retail stores.

It probably did not occur to me at that time, as i was happy as a bird; thrilled actually, to think no further than how pretty my white jacket was and all. However, thinking back, a wiser self now - the jacket was meant to be an encouragement to study hard and bring home good grades, rather than the atrocious ones back in secondary school, but what she does not quite know; that the jacket also brought me my confidence. The confidence that i never quite knew i had as a kid, and the type of confidence that everyone sees in me now.

She did buy me quite a spanking cool wardrobe in preparation of school- my guess was that she was mostly glad that i survived my GCE "O" Levels, and kinda excited that her baby's growing up, and "going to school". After all, going to Polytechnic was like primary one all over again.

Yes admittedly, i am spoilt by my mom in her own way..

Looking at the jacket now, it is probably one of my most prized clothing of that era. It got me through my polytechnic orientation in general, and design school orientation a month later(which in my opinion was a huge step socially, because the last time i had to make friends in such a situation, was when i first stepped into primary school, as secondary school consisted of the same set of friends from primary school, i did not have to worry much about friends).

Though it probably sounded bimbotic to declare that when you look good, you feel good, and probably even dumber to declare that the white jacket was a hit with all the new friends that i have made during the orientation camp. I like the look of envy that i see in their eyes.

Considering the fact that she no longer pays for my shopping, it is indeed one precious jacket that hold sentimental value to me, to remind me how much my mommy loves me, and the journey that jacket embarked on with me - i always have it on me, probably because it was against the polytechnic school rule to be wearing tube or spaghetti tops, and the irony of all would be my penchance for tube tops.. Hahahahha

Yes i dress "saucy" as my lecturer likes to put it.

Ahhh those were the days.

more picture updates

More picture updates from my Bali trip!
I guess i took too much pictures during the trip, as it is becoming quite a chore to compile and to come up with layouts to "prettify" them..all for the eye to feast (not that i have done a good job with the layouts..)

But if you ask me, i would say that the prettiest picture that i have taken in the entire trip would be the artistic ones that Boo took for me, with the picturesque sunset in background, done just the way i asked for... just my blacked out silhouette and the pretty sun behind me. Ha!!! (in case you're wondering which picture i am referring about, it would be the second picture in my previous entry.)

In case you didn't know, you can actually click on the pictures, to view an enlarged version of it.

Alrighty.. Enjoy!

Back from Barley land!

I'm back! In fact, i have been back and bumming around for a few days already.
In my words, i have been busy being "jetlagged", despite the lack of time difference between Bali and Singapore. Hurhurhur.
Life is good there, and i am sorry to be back in Singapore.

As for my life over in Bali, all i did was to shop alittle, surf alittle, boogie board alittle, and came home with a slight tummy rash, and a tan! Whooo Hoo!!

Mommy says that i look like a scrawny little girl with twigs for arms, and everyone (except for Roy) thinks that Boo and i are kinda tanned and dark.

Being known for their surf culture there, Shopping in Bali was all about RipCurl, Billabong, Quicksilver, and other smaller brands like Insight, Volcom, Mooks and etc.
Since i am not much of a surfer chick, shopping was alittle boring for me. However, the interior decoration of the surfshops are really innovative and eye catching!

There was this new shop that had the firemen pole, and we are all invited to slide down from the second level, to the first level. I would have given sliding a try, if it was not for the fact that i was wearing a skimpy short shorts - which could have given me an inner thigh abrasion. *sulks*

Another shop hung real aeroplane in their store, while others have pretty fitting rooms, jeeps to display merchandise on, and there was a Surfer Girl store that employed live local models to pose and be pretend mannequins! How exciting!

The variety of bikinis, shorts, tees, bags, flip flops that these stores carry, can drive everyone crazy! Extremely spoilt for choice, if it wasn't for the fancy price tags that accompanied the pretty merchandise, i would have bought the entire place down just for the sake of spending and buying, though conversion proved to be alittle brain damaging for me, as i practised my rusted mathetical skill of division.

It is exasperating to be counting the zeros in the currency, taking me quite a while to calculate the prices, when in the midst of bargaining. Arrrghh, all that mental sums drove me crazy!

After awhile, i decided that it would be faster to ask Winston or Boo how much 200 000 rupiah is in SGD, rather than to calculate mentally - because i am lazy. Hur hur hur.

The people were friendly, and the standard of living is definitely waayyy more affordable, as compared to Phuket, and the caucasian crowd there is definitely younger, fitter and cuter! (Phuket seemed like a retirement land for the old and wrinkled - interested only in sunbathing their crumply raisin like skin!)

Oh glory to the eye feast i had! And i am also pretty sure that Boo had a good time oogling at some Japanese chicks and other topless eyecandies that were sunbathing at the beach! I learnt to surf and boogie board alittle, where i spent most of my time
tumbling around somewhere in the sea like a rag cloth tossed in the washing machine, or wading and resisting against the strong water currents. Maneuvering the surfboard around proved to be problematic, and most of the time, i get thwacked by the surfboard when a strong wave curls by.

Yup, i left Bali with brusies on the legs, head and ear, but i like surfing still! (despite the fact that my moment of glory only lasted for like 3 seconds, I am already telling Boo that i wanna go back to Bali in July! (yes he's sweated and promptly fainted when i told him!)

In the night, we played a fair bit of the game - Domino, in paper cardboard form with Winston and Gigi, and switched to playing memory games with our Domino pack when we got bored.

Playing memory game on 2 sets of Dominoes is definitely a brain damaging experience as we try to match and remember the positions of over 50 cards!

The remaining time was spent floating in the pool, and sitting in the room requesting for movies to be played on the room telly, to laze about when digesting our breakfast/lunch/dinner.

I have taken the liberty to load some of our pictures in FACEBOOK. *smiles*
For those who does not have a facebook account, it is about time to sign up for one, because it is fun! (and do add me when your facebook account is up, ya?).

So if you would like to view my Bali pictures, click here.
If not then you would just have to make do with my little compiled ones that i have posted in here.

I had lots of fun over the past 1 week, and i wished that i shopped alittle more! Boo!
