Ugh!

Mom is not a very participative foodie.
Sad :(

Indecent conversations

Decent conversations are rare to come by lately (so it seems)
I fail to appreciate the "beauty" of conversations that discourages differing opinions.

It's alot easier to have conversations with myself, than to master the art of one sided
conversations with another.

Perhaps, you might have been thinking out loud, and was "rudely interrupted" by my remarks, to
garner such rapid aggresive replies in response to my halfhearted opinion that
contrasted yours.

Oh well!

Patience

Patience

The secret to patience is doing something else in the meantime.

LOL.
I saw this on FB and I thought to myself - sounds pretty much like what I am doing at the moment.

Being bummerina 2010

It's been a month since I've decided to resume being bummerina.
I haven't been up to anything in particular..but just busying myself with random activities for self amusement.

Pixie woke me up really early one morning, and contrary to popular beliefs that I would fall back asleep, I decided to make potato salad for lunch.
Pictorial evidence suggest that I am rather pleased with the outcome, and it is probably the only thing that I am capable of whipping up confidently, in a semi comatose state.

The egg yolk crumbs made the salad look yummier than it actually suggest, and it was just pity, that mom's into the eat healthy routine lately, therefore the shitty tasting fibrous bread/croutons, and my attempts to conceal its healthy-ness with a lavish spread of herbed garlic.

Cranberry juice was a remnant of my attempts to improve the health of my sick pixie...
and I'd prefer a huge glass full of Orange juice, but with a whole tub of cranberry juice to finish, I'll have to start somewhere.... *makes sour face*

Blinged my Blackberry, and it is the same design that I came up with, for the under utilized HTC.
pretty eh?
I coined a new term for the Blackberry bold (BBB).
It's Bling Berry Bolt!
Lol!
I'd say this is a subtle bling, as compared to what I've seen so far...
Meet Audrey's blingberry!
Comes with an inflated heart shaped balloon!
So kawaii and so fiercely blinged :)
I'm waiting for her to come up with new designs, while i'm contemplating changing my snowberry into a purple berry.
Hahaha!

I've also dug barbie dolls out from the storage room, and attempted a photo shoot with them.
With the advise of a photography pro, I managed to come up with decent pictures of them, and I sort of fancied the happy girlie colors, when the dolls are placed together.
I must admit that I had more fun dressing up the dolls, than posing them for the pictures, as rigid plastic is definitely not easy to work with.

Made fluffy pompom out of old yarns left from my crocheting crazed days.
As the yarns were unravelled from half made crochet projects, the pompoms have this cute little fuzzy natural curl that pleased me lots!

As a kid, I was lured into making poms poms, because the illustration in a craftbook showed a cute chick made of yarned pompoms, with paper bits stuck onto the pompom to create a cute chicklet.

My guess is, self amusement started at a young age.

As I am too old for cheap chick tricks, I decided to fix the 2 huge pom poms onto a rubber tie, and they are currently my latest lounge at home hair fixation.
a 27 year old's guide to acting kawaii at the comforts of home.

So fluffy and cute eh?
Couldnt find a picture of a cute pompom chicklet, so a pompom baaa will do.

These fluffy things are turning grey rather quickly - as I could not resist playing with it.

Goodbye Bali!

On a whim and a fancy, I ALMOST booked myself a ticket to bali, preparing to leave on the 6th and back on the 13th!
*big grins*
However,I listened to my gut, and decided against going, despite being psycho-ed big time into going over the past 1 week.
:)

Oh well, I think I just realized the reason over my gut apprehension!
LoL!
I am totally amused with myself at the moment.

When lost..

As a kid, whenever I am brought to crowded places, Mommy would constantly drill the Standard Operating Procedure of getting lost to me.

"Should you ever get lost or not be able to locate mom/dad, always stay where you are, and not roam around. We'll come back for you."

At crossroads at age 27, with a new definition of being lost, - this silly SOP came back to me as I was heading out for coffee.
Does mommy's words of wisdom still apply for me now, or was it only applicable as a kid?

I wonder if I stood still long enough, would the answers and reassurance that I seek, find their way to me, or would problems that I encounter solve themselves automatically?

It is also times as such that I wished I was like a homing pigeon - to have the innate sense to find my way towards my intended direction.
I would appreciate knowing the path that I am intended for, and save myself the misery of going through a dark period as such.

However, I am thankful for friends and families who are patient, encouraging and insightful whilst I experiment and construct my new internal radar.
---

I only recall being lost once, and it was definitely a scary experience that never quite left me.

It was only recent years when I revealed this bit of memory to mommy, that I received the mother's edition on how they lost me, and I pieced both accounts together to get the entire story.

Here goes:
Parents decided that I was in for a weekend treat to a mini amusement place located in Parkway Parade.

Being truly efficient parents, Daddy decided to purchase rides tokens, while mommy would go get lunch for the family. They parted ways, each assuming that I would be following the other party.
While the happy, excited little girl I am, I remembered turning my heard to take in the sight of all that glittery lights and excitement (I am darn sure I was staring at the awesome swishing movement of the pirate/viking ship), only to realize that both parents were no longer in sight in that split second. :(

Realizing that I was all alone, I panicked big time.
Equipped with the logic of a 4 year old, I believed that I must have wondered off unknowingly, and therefore tried to retrace my steps.
Going back and forth for a couple of times, I had to accept the hard truth - I am lost.
Lost in the dark spooky place that did not seem so exciting anymore.

I willed myself not to cry.
I willed myself to stay calm.
I willed myself to act natural, as if I was meant to be standing alone in that dark little world filled with colorful rides, and that somehow this was merely a bad bad dream.
I swear I was abandoned for hours, but it might actually been 30 minutes or less.

(If you ask me, getting lunch and queuing up to buy ride tokens on a weekend outing would take at least 10-15 minutes, then walking to the table only to realize that their daughter was with neither parent, would take 2 minutes to hit them cold.
Hunting for me would be the priceless moment unaccounted for though. Hahaha.)

It seemed to me like forever, until the moment I caught sight of daddy/ he found me, and he promptly held my hand and led me to mom and my lunch.
It was only when I saw both mom, dad, and my stupid lunch, that I burst out crying big time.
Just think about all that brave tears I held back in the process of being lost.
Tsk.

I guess I was braver back then.
Sniff.

Sick Pig

3 Sundays ago, I woke up to a horrible shock!
Going about with my daily/weekly routine with the little furries, I noticed that my Pixie peed a pool of diluted blood on the floor, and I was horrified.
I immediately asked the brother to google on possibilities, and we somewhat narrowed it to Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) or Bladder stones.
Both sounded horrid to me!

Terrified, but assured that she wouldn't die over night, I made arrangements for Pixie to drop by Namly Animal Clinic the very next day.
I decided against sending her to Mount Pleasant - seeing that they are perfectly useless with their pathetic knowledge of little animal illness, and what is worst, would be the hefty bill that I end up paying for, with no proper diagnosis.

So Namly animal clinic it was, (it was highly rated/recommended for small animals through a quick google check, and they're less costly based on consultation fees alone - from my comparison made from a quick call to Mt Pleasant, the vet clinic at Pet Lover's Holland Village etc).

Mommy offered her little red basket to transport the sick pig to the clinic, and so I lined the basket with newspaper, scribbled the clinic address onto a paper envelope, tucked an old tee onto the nervous piggie and off we go!

A blurry picture of my fuzzy darling looking all sad in the lift.
She kept still throughout the cab ride, making little piggie noises when stroked, alternating between shivers and purrs.
So poor thing!

There was quite abit of doggies for a 4pm appointment.
When it was our turn, the Vet recommended an Xray to determine Pixie's condition, after I told her what I've discovered and listed her list of medical history.

The vet then prepared/scared me with possibilities of cancer in Pixie's womb/uterus, or simply just bladder stones and so on...

I started weeping while the Vet was going through the Xray with me, explaining body parts, gaseous or solid matters etc in a serious and grave expression, just because I thought my little pixie's gonna die instantly!
I seriously hate medical talks!
Ugh!

Turns out, the furry one has got a stone in her bladder (As googled). I was hoping for a UTI..
It's rather serious, but she'll survive, with possibilities of discomfort or pain.

On a serious note, I had to get Pixie to eat, as there was a huge gap of air forming in her tummy, and the possibility of her keeling over from the lack of food is higher than her flopping over from her bladder stones predicament.
Peeking at the xray, the stone in the bladder is about the size of a tiny pebble - which going by her size is huge!

Surgery is not an option, due to her age, and so we'll leave her to eat happily ever after until her time comes.
I'm very sure my little pixie will live until she's 8 or longer, just because I say so. :)

On our way home, I discovered that Namly Place is not a cab friendly area.
I had to walk all the way out to the main road, with her tucked up in her basket and tee, just to get us home safely.

I could not believe how active she became suddenly, as she shuffles around in her basket, playing her version of heads or tail with me.
One moment she had her head facing towards the direction that we are headed for, and after some shuffling about under her comfy tee, her head has been replaced with her butt. Gosh!

It's as if she was equally relieved that she wasn't about to leave my side anytime soon.

Took a few pictures of her when we got home..

Fed her a cocktail of medication!
Siao!
Literally high on drugs with stringe to assist oral feeding.

Critical Care - sick food for little creatures
The powdered mixture that made both the sick pig and healthy bunny go crazy.
Makes me wonder what exactly is in the powdered mixture that made both the furries so excited!

Hmmm..

Total bill? a hefty $120!
and so Pixie's fine!
:)

Pixie: Thank you for being there for me for the past 6 years and going.
You've been a great listener, a joy to care for, and a constant that has seen me through the ups and downs of my early twenties.

As I progress onto my late twenties, I can only hope that you'll live on with me for as long as you can - for you mean the world to me, just like your undying penchant for those chinese cabbage that never fails to lift your day.
Muark.

New chapters

"Only someone who has held on to the very end, can truly say they let someone go."

I did, and I'm mightily proud of myself.

As I pick up the pieces, and closed this chapter of my life,
I look forward to the new adventures set out ahead of me.

Work dominos

A wise man once shared with me that his ideal organization would be one that does not crumble when the leader has to go away for a week or two,
Where ideally every employee would know what his roles is so clearly defined, that even an idiot would know how he contributes to the success of the company - therefore without the immediate instruction of the boss, the employee should clearly be able to make decisions that would very much benefit the company on a daily operational basis.

While another said should he die/disappear/be unable to attend work for various unforeseen reasons, the company would be able to function perfectly without so much as a hiccup.
The gist of both theory is simple, to establish a proper method of doing things - so as to ensure that processes and channels are clear, disrupted and most importantly done in the same exact way.

Take the domino formation for instance.

It is the role of the strategic leader to line the dominos into their intended positions and direction set so clearly that a mere flick of one tile, would simply trigger the rest to accomplish their intended roles.

The lack of proper communication and processes on the other hand, usually bring unnecessary mayhem to the unfortunate minions tasked to hold fort when the leader is away.

Like a pile of misaligned rubbles, minions are forced to grope around for answers - making it extremely inefficient in accomplishing the task, and yet annoyingly to be blamed for inevitable mistakes.

Simply put, the success of your organization depends on how well you arrange your tiles.

Unfortunate and sadly, I'm the sad domino raring to stand in position, only realise that i'm lying in a pile of rubble, weary and stuck - chucked out of convenience, not out of vision.

:(

Tsk.

It's time to skin hunt.
I just realized that the pictures and graphics of the skin is GONE!
I want my girl with red shoes back!

CNY and our KL trip!

Last CNY, BD and I spend our lunar new year nights watching movies .
and this year, we spent it a little differently. :)

We watched Valentines Day on the eve/Valentines day
and the first day of CNY watching Percy Jackson the the lightning thief.
Second day of CNY involved frantic packing of luggage, as he decides to surprise me with a last minute trip away from Singapore! :D
I had to decide between Desaru and Kuala Lumpur.... and I chose KL!

On a whim and fancy, we set off in the late morning drive to KL.
Grumpy's facial muscles weren't warmed up for the camera yet.

It was a smooth journey all the way to Malacca, with clear blue skies and an empty road to match.

We ran out of luck past Malacca, and we were caught in a terrible expressway jam shortly after!

Many Malaysians were rushing back to KL from their respective hometown so as to get back to work on time (that's what I heard from the radio updates and the newspaper the next day.)

Poor thing had to endure the crazy jam, and he decided to skip the expressway, and head for the little roads instead.

We were staying at a pretty urban resort off KLCC! Despite being located just off the main road, there's a quiet tranquility that we experience in the resort.
Pictures of the pool from the room :)
It was just a pity that we were semi lazy to want to swim in that pretty pool...

Our King sized poster bed!
Great to roll around, and nice to snuggle in! :)

Messy kitchen counter top.
In barely 5 minutes in the room, and I've managed to create an awesome clutter on the counter top! Hahahhaa
Dumped phone, bag, food, coke bottle, wallets, and camera case on the table.
How convenient! *beams with pride*

The lazy lounge chair that was hardly utilized..

"nuaing" at the sofa watching the Telly!
I seem to have lost the picture of the mega sized plama/LCD Telly, and I'm semi upset!
The panoramic room pictures that I've painstakingly taken is gone! Argh!

I ❤ mega sized mirrors located at the kitchen / entrance area!
took this shot, before hitting the shops.
Shaky hands = blurry shots, but i like it still!
Heheh!

Grumpy face because he wanted to play with his toy in hand, not take pictures with mirror reflections. :(

Neither of us bought anything when we went out shopping, only new toy!
A remote controlled helicopter!
Ta Dah!

The happy boy posing gleefully with his controller before taking off!
(toy in hand = cooperative smile for camera -_-)

Taking pictures while checking manual.
Copter was malfunctioning.

---
Im a mega sucker for local food fare, so dinner for both nights - we ate out at KL's version of Newton circus!
Our dinner was Yums!
Sambal Kang Kong, Fried Oyster omelette, Seafood omelette and grilled stingray!
There was also the not so nice Ba kut teh, wanton mee that we had, but food there is delicious anyway!
Lovely! but Potent!
Sorethroat after that!

Their oyster omelette was special! They were flat like pancakes!
I had to attach a bigger picture just to show you exactly what I meant!
Flat and crispy!
Very unlike the gooey starchy ones that we have locally!

Next stop before heading home, Malacca!

To load up on chicken rice balls for lunch and those famously delicious pineapple tarts!
We bought 9 boxes in total, and I nearly finished the entire box myself, and I am still loving it!
Woo hoo!

Random pictures of us, on the road.
Hahaha

That's about all from us!
Tata!

Thank you for the surprise trip!

Christmas

This christmas is definitely one of my laziest christmas EVER!
I went about setting up the christmas trees just days before the 25th, only to realize that the lights of the trees were no longer working. Urgh.
I settled for an eco-friendly christmas tree that requires no electricity, but merely more christmas baubles to make up for the lack of lights in gold and red theme nonetheless...

It actually turned out decently pretty, but I didnt manage to muster energy to take pictures of the tree (Maybe next year..)
However, to spruce up the festivity, i've dressed pix!e and Scrabbles up in santa's hat, and a golden axe - stolen from a log cake!
The hat was too big for pix!e, and had 2 slots for bunny's ears to fit into...hurhurhur

Arrggh! So cute!
As for Walnut, she was uncooperative, so no pictures for her.
----
I started buying presents a mere 2 days before christmas, and it was a horrible, horrible mad rush (I'm totally blaming the new job for killing all my enthusiasm and love for the christmas season), but i am still pleased that despite all the last minute purchasing, all the gifts that I've selected were bought with the intended receiver in mind, and not bought on impulse, for the sake of getting a gift!
:)

I was worked to death on the eve of Christmas eve, and only left the office at 5ish in the evening, and rushed back home for a simple family dinner at home in the company of the bro, sis, and mommy + pix!e, Scrabbles and Walnut each had a portioned of our christmas salads less the dressing.
Awesome!
----
Pre christmas, I had a shot with grumpy robots from Starwars (I think?) marching about town.
The grumpies were rather obliging with my request for a picture, and Ta dah! here we go...
heheh..
I caught them right outside Borders @ Wheelock.

----
Oooh!
I received my first ever present/ christmas present from BD, and it comes in a green box! Woo hoo!

Love it!
My mphosis wallet was falling apart, and I wasn't too happy making do with my red Epi LV, and he got me the Kate Spade!
Thank you! (Even though you weren't impressed by their products/brand, and never will......./simply cannot understand your my fascination for it)
I love it.
:)

Randomies...

There was this random weekend where I declared to BD that I could differentiate the taste of Mineral water, Distilled water, and home tap water, and so just to prove that I could, we drove out to Cold storage to get us a bottle of Evian and Ice Mountain!

Hahaha...
My chilled water holders in preparation for my blind taste test! :D

the contenders... Ice mountain, Evian and Home brewed water
I turned around, and baby dispensed the water into the glasses randomly!

and results: I got them right!
It's not exactly rocket science, but I do know what i'm drinking!
Therefore I'm a self declared water connoisseur
Lalalalala...
---
BD's got this random Blueberry cheesecake craving for the longest time, and I was semi bored hanging out at Orchard 313 after work - waiting for him, and so i decided to satisfy his craving by getting him his cheesecake!

So after going back and forth around 313, the only 2 places that sold "cheesecake with blueberry jammie toppings" were Blue mountain cafe, and coffeebean.
I couldn't decide which cake is the better of two, and visual assessment usually doesnt work.. I decided to get both, just so that if one fails the taste test, the other would hold (hopefully).

Coffeebean's rectangular blueberry cheesecake..
with it's slightly more "gelatin" finishing

and Blue Mountain cafe's jammier looking blueberry cheesecake!
Our verdict: BD prefers the coffeebean blueberry cheesecake, as it has a lemony aftertaste to the cake, while the brother and I preferred Blue Mountain's - which is the typical velvety cheesecake finish.
Yums anyway.
----
Very random...
but whatever! :)
